HadrianDog
I wasn't expecting this Result. Nice to see 'Robbo' have a return to some sort of form though. He has struggled badly this Season so far. Very much ditto to your first point, but his EL form has been there and there abouts for the most part lately. Guess his old bones took a bit of time to recover from his start of season spill. Before the death knell is sounded on our team yet again for a woeful performance, the riding kevlars of both Robbo and Garrity should be noted. We were beaten tonight by two members of the high flying Coventry Bees, who are my bet for this year's EL title.
bri1966
Didn't see that coming,,, some bones to be picked out of that :-(,,, too many didn't do it tonight,,, . Four of them didn't do it tonight Where has the outside line gone coming off the top turn ? Good job James Grieves doesn't ride for us now he would be a four point average rider
Big Diamond
Tonight was the worst home peformance of the season which is saying a lot 4 awful peformances and Kerr was inconistent only Rose and Steve get any credit. The complete opposite to the Tigers they all did their job and deserved the win. Diamonds may not win anything but remainder season still important cant keep losing or crowds will drop even more, riders need to restore some pride if they cant should be replaced. Not sure who with mind you only assesed or NL riders available but still possibly worth a look for next season. However i expect promotion to save money and finish the season with ths team tough decision glad im not a promoter.

If we are in a Scunny style financial position then say so. Do I want to see a winning team this year? Yes, of course, but not at the expense of us folding mid winter. And for those out there citing the 'buy for success' route, I have one word- Glasgow.

Robbo Garrity and Bates always looked a threat tonight and produced a lot of overtakes. If you have a solid reserve like Simon scoring 0, then a disappointing performance from Anton, then you are making it hard to get a result. Hopefully the Diamonds will bounce back at Redcar and then v Scunthorpe, I should hopefully make both matches and it surely won't be much worse than tonight...! Working Thursday, so thank the Lord I have an excuse to miss what is highly likely {hope to be so so wrong} to be yet another away defeat. The Scunny match will of course claw another £17.50 out of my on-line wallet, but whether that continues is yet to be seen.
ruffdiamond
Apart from injuries, I can't see anyone troubling Steve Worrall for the #1 spot,,, I think Bates was a bit naughty in his first and may have unsettled Steve and a good ride from Robbo beat him in his next, but from then, rock steady,,, Lewis Rose looked like he had it in him and looked like he had speed,,, the rest, well, up and down ,,, Nothing less than 4pts at Redcar will do, 1 at Workington and 3 on Sunday,,, might restore some pride

Again Glasgow and money. The greater percentage of money spent was on the stadium. A couple of riders were bought to become assets of the club, I take it that Newcastle only have loanees? The amounts of money the riders at Glasgow are meant to be earning are staggering - no idea if this is rumour based on new money men taking over or has any truth in it. Maybe someone can confirm or deny it?!
MrP
Sheffield were worthy winners of the meeting. A lot of people are getting more frustrated every passing week and I have to say I'm one of them. After Henry raced away with heat 1 in a time of 62.6 to then only get 1 more point is baffling, and not good enough really. His average now sits at just 5.07 so clearly not just last night. Rosen well everyone is still waiting for the Anton who joined us late in 2013, who was getting good scores and apart from once or twice since just looks like a different rider and 3+1 is again just not good enough. Then on to Nielsen. Why Simon was signed in the first place I just don't know. For the last few seasons we've had to sign a rider at reserve for whatever reason( injury,Strengthen) but we then go on to sign this rider for the following season, i.e Schramm,Mills and this season Nielsen. Why are they so loyal? According to the averages in the program we are 2.06 under average. Now I know crowds are down but they will only get worse if we keep losing at home. Is it not worth replacing Simon with someone coming in up to 5.88 meaning Henry could drop to reserve? I know finding riders isn't easy with us being a Sunday team etc. Hopefully we'll get back to winning ways this week.

After heat 1 he missed the gate yesterday (and, of course, unfortunately came off in heat 8).
dantodan
Well our team of second strings was found wanting again. The side was put together without worrying the bank manager. I can understand our promoters point of view. Can Newcastle afford a 9 point plus rider? nope not really so we hoped our 7 "attractive" riders, a couple of whom could make strides upwards and mean us winning most fixtures but here in the middle of July it hasn't happened.... Yet! Only Steve Worrall has impressed me in 2015, he alone is having a fine season home and away for the Diamonds. The Sheffield match showed yet again that glorified second strings can not win you matches on their own. You need at least one big hitter to do that. If only Steve had had a 9 point average rider with him in heats 13 & 15 the result could have been different. Having said all this I would rather our promoters continue to keep a tight reign on payments out to ensure we can stay with it and not close down
soupy
I for one enjoyed last night meeting as win or lose it was close.I like to be entertained& was so no complaiints from me.The management know who are not performing but i stand by there decision as to replacement might be the closure of my home team as money not easy to come by with attendances dropping.

ruffdiamond
Exactly I honestly believe some people are living in cloud cuckoo land sometimes gotta agree with you there,,, looks like Lewis Rose took a heavy knock tonight, hope he is not too bad, he was starting to look quite good at home, won't help his confidence much,,, looks like any slim chance of getting anything, maybe slimmer ,,, if he is gonna be out for any length of time, I hope we don't just carry on with guests,,,
HadrianDog
Yeah, it seemed unconfirmed as to the extent of Lewis's injury, but be it shoulder or wrist, if long term maybe now is the time for a re-shuffle. Rose is our primary reserve so like for like is allowed guest wise I believe, but still poss. a move for someone who would push Henry to reserve would be advantageous giving the apparently Teflon coated Nielsen a further lifeline. I know of at least one promoter who wants him gone.

I welcome your support for the team as at the end of the day I want to continue to enjoy the thrills, spills, noise and smell of live Speedway with Mrs S. However, I don't think this match was 'close' - it was the worst Diamonds performance I have seen since Workington pumped us at home circa May 2014. I know of at least one promoter who wants him gone. Simon has done a job for us, to be fair. He has clocked up some points but has also had the odd poor score here and there. To give credit to the lad he tried to do some testing after the last meeting with captain Ludvig, but they were both red-lighted for the Sheffield interviews/junior match. If Simon were to be dropped, it wouldn't be because he did not do his job as a #6. It would be because the team overall has not kicked on and had some riders step up (honourable exception to Stevie), leaving some points to play with. Harsh but that's Speedway. It would be good to suggest eligible replacements before posts criticising the team, if possible. I'm not convinced changes at this late stage in the season are the way forward. Better to send Anton some gating gloves and get Simon to sort his setup/whatever other issues? As always this is just my opinion and I welcome healthy discussion that keeps Newcastle Speedway going and, ideally, brings future silverware (there be still PLKOC this season, Weegies Smeegies...)
