Rye V Berwick Koc

Recommended Posts

Berwick will need to keep any loss down to no more than 10 - 12pts if they are to recover in the second leg, a second where it looks like they will be without Richard Hall who will be racing in the Longtrack GP Challenge, though on current form I see a tonking today.

Berwick are a strange team. Depending on guests they can give anyone a hard time.

Luke Bowen will be race rusty after a few months out and Danny Maassen will be a bag of nerves on his home debut.

Expect decent performances from THJ, Doolan & Tungate.

I reckon we'll need a 12-14 point lead at least to up to Berwick

Light rain forecast for the afternoon, clearing by start time

Hopefully Rohan Tungate will show the same sort of form as he showed last night and the rest will stick in and we can keep the score respectable and give ourselves a chance to progress to the next round

Reckon 16 points needed today but too difficult to predict any score with the Berwick side and the the reserve spots for Rye. Fingers crossed for the weather but big points from the Rye top four might just see off berwick. If a fit Kasper lines up in the second leg then we may be ok. With Ipswich winning a few away in the league now this seems our only chance to keep interest going in any of the competitions.

Would think this is Berwicks last chance of salvaging somethingthis season as a playoff spot looks unlikely at the moment also can't see us qualifying for 4's due to lack of riders. As usual a lot will depend on Edberg and Hall's input at reserve Tungate on last night's performance is a decent guest,Doolan & TJ have been putting in some good performances can't expect to much from Garcia as every track will be new to him.If we can keep score to 10-12 pts deficit I would be optimistic about getting through any more than that would be a big task.

How's the weather looking ? Listening to the reports from Wimbledon on 5 Live i, there seems to be some rain in the air there , guess it depends on which way it's going

Currently cloudy half a mile from the track, but no rain this morning. Clouds are quite high. 40% chance of light rain this afternoon according to Met Office.

*edit* forecast has now changed to cloudy all day, 20% chance of rain. 67f at 5pm

Will there be updates for this meeting

Yes. You can follow on twitter @ryehouseupdates or via

1234 come and see the Rockets score!

Looking forward to visiting Rye House for the first time this year, I do hope they don't run out of mushy peas before I get there.

I'm also hoping the old chap that stands near the starting gate is in good voice and that the referee makes plenty of controversial calls to whip the locals up into a lather!

If you see me, please come and say hello. Today I'll be wearing my Castrol GTX jacket with sewn on patches.

This will sound defeatist but I'll be surprised if we get 30 this afternoon. I reckon this will not be the type of track for Hall, Edberg or Garcia, who will have never seen the place before. Again a lot of pressure heaped onto TJ and the captain. No idea how Rohan tTungate goes around there, but a repeat of last night's performance from him would be welcome.

If we fail to reach the 30pt mark our season ends somewhere around 7pm this evening.

Tungate scored 4 points in March at Rye House think he will do a bit better today.

Any weather updates please? Currently at the National Speedway Museum and now raining. Hoping in to take in today's match on the way home

Cloud high with sunny intervals, but no sign of rain. If we do have any it'll probably be a light sprinkling Edited by Shads

That's from a few years ago and unfortunately I've put on a bit of weight since then. It's probably all the fish, chips and mushy peas from the always excellent and reasonably priced Rye House Fish Bar.

Currently raining steadily here and dark overhead.

Ten minutes later it's bright and sunny. Welcome to the British summer
