Tsunami
There might have been some sort of similar rule in operation around the late 1970's (my involvement only goes back as far as 1988) but in more recent seasons until this year, Swedish riders missing Tuesday or Thursday action over here for domestic Elit or Allsvenskan action back in their homeland haven't had guest or rider replacement facilities in this country. It's why Workington were always so keen to be one of the Isle of Wight's earliest League visitors in late-April when Daniel Nermark was in the Comets' line-up so that they could get their only Tuesday away-meeting out of the way before his Elit schedule began in early-May. And we didn't get a guest for Ludde in that famous away win at Berwick, which was televised a couple of years ago on a Tuesday night. Triple.H.
The BSPA can and often do change the rules in the winter. There technically nothing t stop them brining in a rule that says anyone form New Zealand can only ride in the EL and has to come in on a 10 point average. But would they want to be seen as strengthening a weak EL product
steven101
I really dont understand how your average can differ from season to season. If he was to go PL now he would be a 5.00 meaning no NL racing because average over 4.00 meaning leaving eastbourne. Next season they want him to go in on a 7.00 im struggling to see how they can just change that and do whatever they want.
Ben91
The one thing that annoys me is that we've never had a satisfactory answer as to why the guy is riding NL as he isn't British.

We have. He complies with regulation 19.9.2.5 - All riders must hold a UK passport or have UK patriality.

In which case he should have started the NL season on a three point average and be eligible to guest/ride for a PL side on a three point average too. baba
They have left another mess here concerning BWD. The poor lad has come over to race and these diddies have somehow ruined his chances of progressing to premier league. What it does look like is that they want him in the fast track reserve category for next year so no pl club can use him. I may be wrong but when there is no explanation my mind wanders and looks for answers.

FWIW I don't think he's much better, if at all, than the likes of Ellis, Branford, Clegg etc. If he is going to ride as a Brit he shouldn't be held back from riding in the PL, James Sarjeant has competed in the NZ championship before and wasn't saddled with a five point PL average. UK passport holders start on 3, those with patriality on 5.
