What Is The Situation With Wilson-dean?

Recommended Posts

He has patriality so legitimately went into the NL on a 5 point average as per the regulations as distinct from British passport holders who start on 3.

Without a UK passport he will need a visa or work permit which will mean he will be on a. 7.

I'm not sure if that is the case. If you have an ancestry visa you are supposed to be treated the same as a citizen and do not have the same restrictions placed on you as you do with other visas. Edited by HenryW

Not true.

See my post above.

Its British passport holder or patriality.

That's why there are different averages for those who are passport holders and those who are not.

He's been assessed on a 5.00 average in the PL for this season but has said he bspa will assess him on a 7.00 average next season. How does that work??

The BSPA can and often do change the rules in the winter. There technically nothing t stop them brining in a rule that says anyone form New Zealand can only ride in the EL and has to come in on a 10 point average.

If he is a 5 this year then would be good for him if someone like scunny bring him in forthe rest of the season as at 5 he should be ok doubling up and not have to leave eastbourne (if he was a 7 in PL that would stop him riding NL as above the average of 6)

This would allow him to gain a real average to use for next season.

Then it would just be the issue of what visa and whether they decide riders get to keep their average as long as they meet other criteria (national/state position).

would benifit scunny as we need 2 riders currently and would at least solve one guest and currently ben will be 4.82 and team total is 40.82 so no problems there but he would be in the main body as alex davies is now 4.97

Waiting till next year and having to have a 7 would stop most PL clubs signing him. Most are reluctant to use a NL rider coming up on a 3pt!!

Scunny don't have 4 home and 4 away league meetings left so would that mean he doesn't get an average even if he did sign for them?

He's been saddled with the 7 for this season. He was due to guest for Rye House at Ipswich in place of 5.44 Robin Aspegren but was then ruled out at at the last minute because of the reassessment.

I think you'll find that he's said on his website and even in the speedway star that he's been given a 5.00 for this season, and a 7.00 for next.

Then why was he stopped from appearing as a 5 point guest for Rye House at Ipswich?

Because "technically" he has a PL average of over 4.00 which means he's ineligible to guest as a NL only rider in the PL. he would need to be named in a PL 1-7 to be eligible to guest.

But the same rule would have made Hughes ineligible too (who was the guest instead) if Aspegren had to be covered by an NL only rider.

The should have done. If only a NL guest was allowed then Hughes was ineligible.

They weren't being used as "NL only" guests, Aspegren was riding for his Swedish club under the long-standing agreement with SVEMO.

The agreement can't be that long standing as it wasn't in place last season! I'm sure it was brought in this winter. Edited by SCB

AFAIK it's been in existence for as long as I've been watching speedway which dates back to the late 70s.

There might have been some sort of similar rule in operation around the late 1970's (my involvement only goes back as far as 1988) but in more recent seasons until this year, Swedish riders missing Tuesday or Thursday action over here for domestic Elit or Allsvenskan action back in their homeland haven't had guest or rider replacement facilities in this country.

It's why Workington were always so keen to be one of the Isle of Wight's earliest League visitors in late-April when Daniel Nermark was in the Comets' line-up so that they could get their only Tuesday away-meeting out of the way before his Elit schedule began in early-May.
