Yet some how the BSPA/SCB are making things up and apparently giving him an assessed 5 point PL average. Well who would have thought that the BSPA would make thing's up as they go along all in the interest off British Speedway though . This lot make FIFA look whiter than white. The only other time I've heard the term 'amateur' used in connection with the NL was when Len Silver was led to believe that he could use Tyson Nelson as an amateur for the Cobras at Scunthorpe & ended up having his 17 points removed from the results when it proved not to be so. Blackadder Posted July 25, 2015 Report Share Posted July 25, 2015 18.6.1 Riders new to Premier League racing are categorised as follows: Cat 1: Riders with an “end of the previous season’s published average” in the Polish Ekstraliga or the Swedish Elitserien of above 6.00 points and a Rider subject to a Certificate of Sponsorship Cat 2: Riders with an “end of the previous season’s published average” in the Polish Ekstraliga or Swedish Elitserien of 6.00 and below plus ALL other Riders riding currently in any Professional Speedway League, Cat 3a: Riders not riding in a Professional Speedway League Cat 3b: Commonwealth or USA (to a maximum of 4 each season) Riders new to British SpeedwayCat 4: Riders who have ridden in the National Development League as an Amateur 18.6.2 The Assessed MA's for new Riders to the PL racing is: Cat 1 8.00 Cat 2 7.00 Cat 3a 5.00 Cat 3b 7.00Cat 4 3.00 That makes him a 3.00. But wouldn't being classed as Cat 4 mean he is riding for expenses only? I suspect that UKVI are forcing their hand on this. He's said on Facebook that it's nothing to do with the ukvi as he has a visa which allows him to come and go into the UK and EU countries freely, He's evenly openly admitted that he would happily ride for GB if need be. It's the bspa making up these rules for him which is pretty disappointing.. This kid is what New Zealand has been needing for far too long and I just hope the powers that be don't ruin it for him. The only way he can come in on a three is if he has a british passport, back in 2010 when Morris and Branford came into the NL they did so with a three point NL average. The fact he came in on a 5 to me says he only has patriality so will need to come into the PL on a 7 point average, harsh I agree but no different to a lot if the good young Aussies that are on the same boat. Glad he is because from what ive heard hes an entertainer, maybe Jayne who comes on here and seems to know the rules inside out can enlighten us all. Wouldn't that apply to every rider who comes out of the NL, then, not just Wilson Dean ? They'd all be going in on a 5.00. I think its clear that any rider coming from the NL into the PL is a 3.00. From my understanding of the UKVI, they have been extremely reasonable with British Speedway. Basically, they set the ground rules a few years ago and members of the BSPA completely ignored them. They could have slung the book at the sport but chose simply to write off past misdemeanours in favour of a 'do it our way in future or else' approach (needless to say, at least one promotion has tried to break that already). I doubt very much that Wilson-Dean doesn't have patriality - its a qualifying condition to race in the NL that is in addition to being a British passport holder, so he doesn't necessarily need one. 9.9.2.5 All Riders must hold a UK Passport or have UK Patriality.
