Leicester V Swindon 11/7/15

If Leicester's usual practices are anything to go by, nobody will find out until about 7:40 when the teams are read out on the parade and the money is safely in the bank

SWINDON have confirmed Darcy Ward will make his debut in their Elite League match at Leicester on Saturday.

Ward’s suspension from all speedway for failing an alcohol test at last year’s Latvian Grand Prix expired at the end of June, and he quickly agreed a deal to join the Robins in place of former No.1 Adrian Miedzinski.

Swindon boss Alun Rossiter said: “We haven't really had an out-and-out No.1 all season and hopefully bringing Darcy in will change that because everybody knows what he can do on a bike.

“I'm sure he'll do well and he'll be an important rider for us over the next few months but don't expect him to go out and bang in fifteen points on Saturday. People have got to be realistic; he's done laps and he looks very quick but he's been out for a long time and it will take him a few meetings to get back up to speed.”

Isn't the Leicester track more conducive to racing now?....Or not!

It's like Swindon you have to get out the starts first. Edited by mrcts

I'm sure that's the objective at all tracks.

Well at some tracks it's more important than others and Swindon is one of them.......der!!!!!!!!! Edited by mrcts

Have you ever been to the Abbey, plenty of racing lines & passes as long as your bike is quick enough. Ask Poole, they were passing us race after race early in the season.

I generally get down to Swindon about 6 times a year and in my opinion the racing has been pretty average for the last 2 or 3 seasons.

There was a period when the track was made too slick and the racing was average, but now usually there are more racing lines and it allows plenty of passing.

What a shame, you must have missed the best meetings then

I remember a few years bck, the Swindon track was really bad with everyone following each other round close to the air fence.

It's definitely been improved since then. I remember they announced Ronnie Russell was doing something to give it more race lines and it seemed to work quite well.

Definitely better last time I went - I couldn't believe my eyes.

That plus Ward's presence will probably persuade me that this will be a better option than Workington v Newcastle.

Thanks for that. Ward may find it more to his liking than last year, providing he's not too jet-lagged!
