The Darcy Ward Show! Swindon V Poole - Mon 13th July 7.30 Elite League (sky Meeting)

Recommended Posts

picture this....

Coventry V Poole - charge full price, big threat of a rain off, nobody turns up, massive inquiry

Swindon V Poole - charge £10, big threat of a rain off, healthy crowd, good meeting

now which promotion ticked the boxes....

There was small threat of light rain in the evening in Swindon while for the Cov meeting storms and high winds were forecast, plus rain during the day. It was never gonna go beyond 10 heats and maybe shouldn't have reached that. It's a bit different to the forecast and weather Swindon had yesterday! Edited by woz01

What was so wonderful about a rider (Ward) powering to the first turn in front and extending his lead over the four laps? Apart from fending off Janowski, who looked fairly down on power all night, what did Ward do to entertain? Nothing compared with Charles Wright!

Other posters have already said, motm was Wright, not Ward

Hope the riders who crashed are not badly injured

Mate don't waste your time replying. He's full of rubbish. He was a Swindon fan last year and now he's a Poole fan. He will be a Coventry fan next year no doubt.

Fair enough and that explains a lot. I don't know how any 'real' supporter can just change teams. Supporting an individual rider who may move around, absolutely, but changing teams is just ridiculous.

As for Poole team changes, I genuinely think that Matt Ford won't make any until at least the play offs when one of his 'masterstrokes' could quite possibly materialise. However, the current 1-7 has got us up the top so credit where credits due.

All you (and scottywotsit) do on here is moan about the current team on post after post. Gomolski this, North that. And now Davey becoming a heat leader again will make us stronger...LOL!! You are impossible to please. As I've said a number of times, and maybe you'll get it this time..MATT FORD HAS STATED THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY TEAM CHANGES AT THE CURRENT TIME! So carry on with your pointless team bashing if you wish, but most of us feel that we're doing just fine. Is second in the EL with matches and points in hand not good enough??? It is for me.

NOBODY BELIEVES A WORD MATT FORD SAYS !!!

But you must remember their stadium is packed every week so they don't need to charge a tenner to get in as the crowds flock in anyway.

Don't forget, he was a Panthers fan the year before that!

The art of powering into the first bend and extending a lead is something to be admired.

Ward could ride around a track on his own and still look sensational such is the way he powers the bike into the bends, a case and point being that drive away from Janowski entering turn 3.

As enjoyable as the encounters between Wright and Newman were the level of skill involved in what Ward was doing in comparison is quite a few levels above that.

I agree with most of your post.

However I would chose Janowski Over Holder and Ward any day of the week......

We are in a similar position to Swindon we need to let Gomolski go....Kacper is terrible therefore North will have to make way as well......Even though it would be harsh on Dakota....But Gomolski gets worse by the week.

Can't get rid of Gomolski, he is a 3 point rider riding above his average and there is no one on his average any better, Krcmar proved that and Kacper did win a race.

Alltogether a disappointing night in Swindon, arrived in slight drizzle but track was in great condition it seemed from my point of view. All the Swindon riders looked good with the exception of Krcmar and i think he is better than he has performed up to now, Batch looked really quick early on, after a couple of problems, Hans looked ok, Wright and Zengota were terrific, Darcy was the best rider on show but we all expected that, SCB said he hoped he got 8 or less but that was never going to happen.

As for Poole well they were all fairly poor with the possible exception of Newman, Holder was awful for him, Janowski wasn't the rider he has been this season, Watt only rode well once as did Gomolski although Watts problems could have been mechanical as Newman looked slow on his bike and then it broke down,Starke had a massive crash and after that was probably feeling the effects so no blame on him, North just isn't the rider he was earlier in the season, don't know why.

So all in all a bad day but this team is better than tonight's showing and although a change or two may be in the pipeline we will make the play offs and better performances are round the corner.

I said at the start of the season Watt and North will let us down and although they have surprised me at different times, i still feel they have the potential to let us down when it matters.

Whatever people think it's great that a rider as good as Darcy Ward is riding in Britain......for me he is the most watchable rider around and I'm glad he's back regardless of what club he rides for.....and I'm glad he's proved a lot of people wrong that said he wouldn't try against Poole.......he's a world class rider and world class riders try to win every race.

Well lets wait for the play off shall we.

A good night at the abbey, was surprised it was on after the rain that came down in the rest of Swindon but with its mini climate missed blunsdon.

Darcy was brilliant from the start of the first race, so smooth and fast on his bike and showed that he did not need time to get back into racing or to learn the track. He rode like he had in the past when visiting and his signing is a great move by Rosco. The other riders also did well especially Charles Wright who had good races with Kyle Newman and deservedly got man of the meeting. The crash involving Lewis was extremely bad luck as he had nowhere to go in trying to avoid Paul Stark. Report on his injuries here http://www.swindonrobins.co/news.php?extend.2475

Poole were not there usual selves and we will have to see what the Robins do when they visit Poole later this month. Now this meeting will be a massive draw.

Swindon have moved to 4th in the league table above that lot from Manchester and now need to win on the road as we have some tough away meetings, apart from Wolves that is.

Well done to Swindon - the best team on the night. Both teams had their falls and their engine issues, but Swindon came out on top.

If it had been a first leg play-off then an 8-point deficit would be acceptable.

If Kyle Newman had been able to sort out his speed in the first half of the meeting as he did in the 2nd half then maybe it would have been closer. But similarly with Hans.

But as with any meeting its all ifs and buts.....!

It will be interesting to see how Swindon perform away from home now.

PS. As a Poole and Darcy fan I thought the Sky coverage was just so over the top!!!!!!!

I think this post summed everything up pretty well, Poole really did under perform Holder i will give him a bit of slack after heat 1 he looked slow Newman rode ok he also looked slow.Gomolski the race he even won he looked mega slow and Magic was not at his best but he showed his class in heat 15.North and Watt are the weaknesses,Poole will make the play/offs and with the right change can still win the league.Swindon i was chuffed to bits with there performance BATCHELOR is key for me if he performs we can still make in roads on getting the points needed on the road.Wright was terrific gutsy put himself on the line and he now is getting in the laps at the abbey and is improving.I like Charlie and i always thought his away form could be a massive bonus for us his scrap with Newman was brilliant.Ward dont need to say much that heat 11 that was awesome he just squatted away Janowski like he was not there and in that race looked mega quick.I came away last night thinking in that heat 11 i had seen a great rider on show no doubt in my mind at there best TAI, EMIL, Ward are the best riders in the world.Tai has done it won a title and is in the driving seat, but i believe Ward is the better rider and will prove it over the next ten years. For Darcy also which is bonus maybe i could be wrong his gating has improved alot which will help him when he gets back in the series roll on Wolves on Monday night.

The only person stopping, Darcy (the rider), being World champion, is the person himself........ He has shown he is more than capable of beating anyone on the track, but he has to beat his rival off the track........ Taking a leaf out of Holder's or Woffy's behaviour book, wouldn't do him any harm at all........
