Game On
Meeting updates etc need to be published on the offical bees website. Not everyone uses facebook. Correct, I would imagine the average age of supporter is nearer fifty than twenty so most won't even know what facebook is.
CB252
Why wasn't it held at Brandon stadium ? Bit of a daft question. The owners of the stadium clearly see that it has a limited future and aren't willing to spend a penny on the venue. They're hardly going to employ staff to open up the stadium on a Thursday night to facilitate a meeting for a group of people opposed to their intentions for the land!
Game On
I see the old garden centre over the road from the stadium has got planning permission.
Gemini
When you take into account it was about saving speedway & stock car racing at Brandon and only 150 turn up from a massive city & surrounding areas it shows there isn't a lot of interest sadly to save Brandon stadium. Why wasn't it held at Brandon stadium ? Sometimes you excel yourself with daft comments. I'm sure Mr Sandhu would love to hire the stadium out to a group who are trying to stop him from doing what he wants to do with the land.

coventry1963
Garden centre appears to have approval for redevelopment as the same, not for housing or suchlike.
Woz01
Also the Garden Centre has been derelict for quite a while now and its reopening as a garden centre I believe. Seems one step is getting Rugby Council to approve listing the stadium as a community asset. Gem, what I was meant to say was why wasn't it held at Brandon after a speedway meeting ? Because then people will be there till midnight and the meeting was for residents and stock car fans too. Yes that is the first of many steps, plus Mick Horton has asked Mr Sandhu if he is willing to sell it to the speedway family and is waiting for a reply. As regards planning no application has been received as of yet and Mick may be offered a yearly extension at the end of 2016 season, but obviously that is not ideal. I must be in a minority at 57! I use FB a lot! Personally, I think a lot of '50 something's' do.

Game On
An ideal location for a National Speedway Stadium maybe, Rugby council also said there was no restriction on any modernisation of the current structures, contrary to what Mr Sandhu said in the past.

Really its interesting that Horton has asked, I wonder if he has any backers because it will be a tough ask to raise the money. Yeah not ideal doing a year on year lease but I do think we will be at Brandon for a while yet. Also I understand the planning consultants pulled out of a meeting recently and Rugby Council have heard nothing in a while Edited July 24, 2015 by woz01

Why wasn't it held at Brandon stadium ? Why don't you put your brain into gear before typing? Do you honestly think Sandhu or any stadium owner would allow an opposition group to held meetings in their stadia? Sandhu want's to sell yet the support group want to keep the stadium as it is. Had a complaint that the locals were unaware of the meeting due to communication issues, but those that attended including the Parish councillor all want the stadium to stay as it is.

Yeah not ideal doing a year on year lease but I do think we will be at Brandon for a while yet. Also I understand the planning consultants pulled out of a meeting recently and Rugby Council have heard nothing in a while The big question is, how much? And with regards to a rolling one year lease, the speedway has to be viable for it to continue, so any large increase in rent has to be found from somewhere. As I understand the present situation, speedway is safe until the end of the 2016 season, it's then that a new 12 month lease would be offered. It was also mentioned that there would be 12 months notice should the stadium be sold,
GoFastTurnLeft
Really shows what a sorry state British Speedway is in that the team currently at the top of the league is having to worry about their future. Hope you guys get your stadium sorted long-term.

mikebv
Realise we are going to have a National Stadium in Manchester, however one of Speedway's balls ups (amongst many I know) was not collectively purchasing the old Hyde Rd stadium... Therefore could all promoters and sponsors involved in the sport (and stock cars) get together and purchase Brandon? Would provide another 'all year round track' for training, like the new BV but in the Midlands and also deliver a major financial asset for the sport if that land value was on British Speedways balance sheet... They couldn't spare a few 10s of thousands for Newport so I doubt they have the they'll pay towards keeping Coventry! I wonder what it would cost each club when broken down. Or even if it's worth investing the Sky money in Brandon, so rather than every club getting £x now they're get a smaller amount now but over a much longer period would get much more?!
