Birmingham V Mildenhall Wed 1 July

3 more points, but at a cost. Hope Tom Perry's wrist isn't broken as is feared.

Another close meeting early on, but the Brummies moved clear at the end.

Charley Powell got better with every race.

Shame the Start Marshall put Powell off his stroke by leaving the cone used to support the tapes

out in the heat he was winning. Caused him to swerve and fall off.

Plus a full house for Zach too.

Charley rode really well but the NL title is now Eastbournes if Perry has broken his wrist as suspected after Halsey went wide and took him into the fence--no ill intent may i add on his part.

Knew our luck would run out eventually

So is it correct that there are no play off finals this year.

No play off finals this year. The top 4 will race each other in a golden cup competition.

Not sure why somebody has quoted it as being Eastbournes now to lose. Birmingham may be without Perry but it still shouldn't affect the rest of the team strength with Zach & Ellis able to take an extra ride. Cradley are the nearest team to Birmingham in the league and Coventry still haven't ridden at home so have all their home fixtures to come.

Just what I was thinking. Looks like a four horse race for the title to me and yes, I think Coventry look very good with all their home matches to come still.

Am I reading it wrong or did 'Lord of the shale' really suggest that the starting marshal left the tapes cone on the track causing a rider to crash? Surely that would be a re-run and more of a talking point!

Brummies might still have a chance for the league, but the "Golden Cup" will be Eastbourne's to lose, before a wheel is turned with their obvious home track advantage. Might as well give them the trophy now.

GOOD NEWS

This morning's Facebook update says that Tom Perry has NOT broken his wrist but that there is a bone fracture in one of the bones in the side of his hand. He'll be working with the team's Fizzio and hopefully he hopes to be fit to ride again in 2-3 weeks time. Or in other words, in 3 or 4 meetings time... I assume R/R will cover for him, and that could cost the team 5 points a meeting at least from what Perry's scoring potential would be compared to who we have to take his rides.

If the Brummies enter the NL Pairs, then the 2nd rider spot may now be up for grabs, depending on when Tom Perry returns, how he does when he is back on track, and what Zach keeps doing...should be interesting to watch this space.

NO NEWS

No-one has any more news on Harvey Banks's or Adam Kirby's injuries. I would expect however that for Banks, Graham Drury won't be rushing him back until he is fully fit, recuperated, strong as an ox, tanned from his holidays and brim full of confidence. One gets the feeling that Charley (why the feminine spelling of that name?) Powell may be invited along again (and again?) pending Banks's return.

With the new averages Tom is now third and this means that Adam Ellis is not able to take one of toms rides.

It looks like he is third...

In the declarations effective July 1st he is second, which is issue 10. Between the July averages being released and them becoming effective both Tedham and Hopwood were signed under June averages so a new copy was released as issue 9a and this is what you and guitar_art are looking at and confusing yourselves. But they are not the effective July averages that see Perry second!
