Berwick V Peterborough (on Sky) Wed, July 8th

Recommended Posts

Is it not in the Berwick "policy rules" not to talk "in the street" it only leads to rumours which have nothing to do with Berwick Speedway.

It is, but that doesn't stop the rumours, though the one Bandit59 seems to be hinting at has been around for ages.

We haven't got a full team for this, so depends what guests we can get to make a match of

We haven't? So who's missing, and how come?

EDIT:

S'ok, I've just been looking at the report of today's meeting on the Panthers site. They slipped in this little bombshell towards the end:

Panthers return to action in a televised trip to Berwick on Wednesday when they will be without their three Danish riders – Ostergaard, Palm Toft and Grondal – due to fixture clashes in their homeland.

So, how's this going to map out?

Should be fairly straightforward to find a decent guest for Ostergaard at No.1. One of the usual suspects: Brady Kurtz, Richard Lawson, Lasse Bjerre...?

Are we allowed guests for either/both the other two, or will we be stuck with R/R ? Adam Roynon would be high on my list after today's performance ;)

Bandits will have to change their programmes to accomodate Panthers' changes, and I'd imagine Sky will be going ballistic!

Details for line-up changes will doubtless be in e-Newsletter planned for tomorrow.

Just hope no-one is going to blame Berwick for any of this, although the main draw (Robert Lambert) will still be there, of course.

It is always going to be a problem when you race on the same night as the Danish league , The Panthers management must have known this when they accepted the fixture

Will probably be a long time until Lambert appears at Berwick again, as I doubt he will be doubling-up next year. Bet he gets a great reception at the end of the night after some great overtaking moves

Because a member of the BSPA management committee suggested looking into signing Jacob Thorsell that means that you dont check the rule book?

After the same man gave duff info to Sheffield about what Proctor needed to do for a work permit, maybe other clubs should stop taking his advice. His Wolves talk-ins/forums ever winter he spreads terrible rumours too.

Yeah..I would go Brady kurtz or Lawson for Ulrich and fish, kus or Hansen for grondal..and r/r for MPT...or even Roynan for MPT and r/r for Grondal..got a feeling Roynan has beef with Panthers though and who can blame him when we choose a Joe average foreigner instead of dropping him back in.

Why is this meeting being televised when so many riders missing? Were sky maybe not informed at the time that this would be the case

Sky will choose their meeting, you would have thought someone from either the BSPA and/or Peterborough would've told them about the missing riders.

At the minute we have two six man teams, three guests, and two rider replacements, in other words a true reflection and a typical speedway meeting in this Country.

Are we going to have TJ missing or not?

I assume not, as the club would've announced that kind of thing by now in their news letter.

TJ will be there. Berwick do their homework.

This is not Berwick's fault, nor that of Sky Sports or the BSPA.

When the date was rearranged to provide the PL with another televised showcase, there was no warning from Peterborough when they accepted the new date they might not have their full squad available.

There was always a risk this would happen but Peterborough wouldn't have been certain until the Danish teams picked their riders for this date...Denmark use a squad system so it's never certain if a rider will be racing or not...and of course they only just added Emil to their own team when the Thorsell signing was refused.
