The Most Secret Speedway Meeting Ever

Recommended Posts

I like the idea of 3 meetings in 3 days on the same track, Friday night, a Saturday gp and then a meeting on the Sunday

why wouldn't you stay over and go to at least 2

be great for fans travelling from overseas, be great if it happened for every gp at every track in my opinion

not sure which meetings though

For every GP or just Cardiff?

for every 1 . even top 8 auto qualify and 16 others race for the other 8 places . would weed out some of the dead wood and give 8 more riders a chance to be part of the series . 8 more riders 8 more sets of supporters as well . and make travelling abroad a bit more worthwhile as well

??? Why would he not be allowed to ride? Don't they have a practice day on the Friday before a GP now.

all the riders have a practise day , the rules are you should not have ridden a Gp track before the gp .official practise is part of the GP

The rule is no official meeting can take place 7 days prior to the meeting. The Cardiff GP is not for over a week yet so he's fine.

The same thing was suggested when Kelvin, Harris & Lambert tested engines before SWC but as it was a practice and not an official meeting it didn't count.

GARRITY is only a meeting reserve and will only take the place of a rider indisposed once the GP has started.

of course , the official reserve would go if a rider was injured , who Is that ?

5000 people at Cardiff would be crap. As would 10,000 people. This about this for a second, Wales play their football games at the Cardiff City football stadium because it's not worth opening the Millenium Stadium. Due to the costs of opening for the public there break even figure will be quite high.

If it paid to only have 5,000 people in there then the stadium would be used every weekend with some obscure sport taking place.

you are quite right the atmosphere wouldnt be fantastic - i was just trying to suggest ways extra income could be generated since they are probably paying rent for several days when nothing is happening

the 5/8 or 10 thousand could maybe be concentrated in one area

like Wolverhampton - the current British Final venue with one stand only and 3/4 of the stadium area deserted

who knows - if 2 or even 3 meetings were offered as a package deal the crowd could be bigger than you think

just an idea

I can't believe people are moaning about this. It's surely a good idea to get the track tested so there are no problems come raceday, BSI do a few things wrong. This isn't one of them.

I'm glad they are so sure that the track won't change anyway in a week and a half./quote]

The whole thing sounds positive and can only be good for the sport well done all involved I am the first to have ago at the powers that be but on this occassion I take my hat off to them .I am looking forward to the GP and the track can only be better for this extra effort that has been put in .

hopefully this year will be a good racing track all through the meeting, but lets not forget what has been done this year can only be repeated if a) the stadium is available for the extended time needed. B) the powers that be are prepared to pay for the extended time.
