RobMcCaffery
well, after reading most of the post here, all I can say is `What are you watching`? Bloody good match with close racing!! Now, now, that's not playing the game, forming your own positive opinion and not following the usual herd who think it's clever to tear everything to pieces, or the BEL fans desperately trying to convince themselves that they are superior just because their team races in a higher if shambolic league. It was a perfectly enjoyable meeting and fascinating to see how the Panthers could get home with just five heat-winners. It all depends on what you want really, and what you choose to see. My Sky dish must have been picking up a different meeting to the one you watched. Let's talk about the first 10 heats. Perhaps if you tried to watch it without the blinkers?
baba
Close score kept this one interesting had moments of frustration when we were in 5-1 positions and threw them away. Peterborough is a quick track and unforgiving when mistakes are made. Im glad dimitri is ok after his fall imo was lucky it went his way he just managed to pull level before he came off. richard must be annoyed with himself for not riding inside coming out of bend 4 in heat 15. A point on the road is always welcome especially when it looked like we were for it in heat 14 but thanks to lady luck had a last heat decider to try and take three points. Enjoyed meeting but agree with comments that it could have served up better entertainment.

Perhaps if you tried to watch it without the blinkers? When I watch a speedway match it's so I can be entertained & interested over 15 heats, not the last 5 'when the track has settled down'. The first 10 were boring gate & go stuff which was a real disappointment considering the EOES is usually a great racing circuit. That's an unblinkered view, I know what I saw. If any EL match/track produces crap racing, even Monmore Green, I'm more than happy to give it pelters, that's documented on here.
Gavan
I'm sure some people watch meetings with blinkers on! My team are in the Premier league so I'm not an elite league snob. I've seen good and bad meetings at all tracks and that was boring. If you led out of turn 2 that was that. Peterborough can be just as boring as any other track. Just because it's fast doesn't make the racing better. Look at Berge when he made the gate he couldn't be caught apart from Kurtz knocking him off. The match at Glasgow was a good advert for our league but this wasn't

stratton
Not the best of meetings,it got better as it went along Simon Lambert rode very well he is certainly improving with his racing. One point i would make is i was not impressed with Stewart Dickson the Glasgow team manager his manor in the interviews certainly about the riders was very poor.Over a period that style of team managing will be exposed, maybe he is not like that all the time so i will give him a bit of slack. g13webb
Enjoyed my visit to the EESG as usual, the weather was good, the competition was spot on, pity the track didn't come up to scratch until late on. Must races were gate and go with a fast inside line. That's the trouble when the track is fast, the racing becomes processional. A few races were close to the track record and that was an indication of how fast the riding was. Glasgow are a strong team, led by 3 good BEL riders, all consistently winning races, The Frenchman at reserve done well, but they sure missed the injured Sarjeant, whose RR only managed 2 pts. Probably had these sides met 3 weeks ago the result might been different. The Panthers battled hard. were unlucky at times but got there in the end. Although only 5 heat winners, they always battled for those minor placings to keep Glasgow in tack. Two riders caught my eye, first Simon Lambert, he has come on leaps and bounds, since last year when guesting for the Stars, and Brady Kurtz. Having heard much of how good he is, seeing him for the first time was a real eye opener. He was excluded in the first for tape infringement, but from then on he was impressive. I thought he was a tad unlucky to be excluded in the 10th. I think there was contact, but purely a racing accident with no intent. Probably, if the cameras weren't there and no Kelvin giving his thoughts the outcome may have been different. It was a pleasant evening. Wouldn't rate this with the best meetings I've seen, but was still enjoyable.
bigcatdiary
It was a decent meeting but not the usual very high standard of racing we've seen at the showground in the past. The inside line stayed too good through most of the meeting and the riders were chasing that and the only passing in the early stages was through mistakes, but the racing got better towards the end. The inside stayed good because of the grip, the circuit was incredibly fast last night with 11 of the 15 races providing race times under 60 seconds (TR is 58.4 by Kasprazak) and both the Lamberts did 58.8 in heat 1 and 5 respectively. Generally our times are around second or two slower and I think it was this that took the edge off the racing early on, having said that I thought it was a great meeting and the latter stages were very good, Panthers did just enough to win but Glasgow were good value for a point. Crowd looked down from normal but boosted by the kids scheme and they seemed to be everywhere, lets hope a few want to come again, at least the club are trying. Certainly better than the tripe that was served up on Monday and from the comments in the pits that wasn't only my thought. Ronnie Russell was present, meeting referee was Graham Flint and the steward was Mick Bates. Think Readypower are big in Australia. Yes I noticed that as did a couple of friends, not the best advert for the start girls

MOM Simon Lambert.. well done that man... very impressive.! What a power house the Tigers top 3 are, Dangerous reserves also!! Play offs for both teams! good luck to Olly Greenwood - hope to see him back at the Panthers in the future when he sorts himself out!

TheScotsman
I really hate air horns, these vuvu things and all that. But I managed to avoid the worst of them by watching the racing with my earphones in and the Sky feed on my phone. The delay was just over a minute so time to see the race real time and then on the phone just after.

Air horns are fine but not in the hands of a groups of kids playing who can irritate the adults the most. I've read that some didn't see the problem. The good news is that Specsavers will check you ears as well as your eyes these days.

I thought your phone only did calls and text? Or did you bring the ghetto blaster along? I have to say, you do get a good mobile signal at the Showground. I did slum it in the stand this week - it wasn't too bad.
Crump99
I thought your phone only did calls and text? I purchased one of those cassette radio walkman things from e-bay. It's a bit bulky, nobody uses cassettes these days, the am radio is a bit in and out and crackly but it was cheap and the sound was better than those two roving mics last night. I'm getting there on the technology front
