Free admission for the big TV fixture

Peterborough Panthers bosses have called on the local sporting community to help them pack the East of England Showground for the visit of the television cameras later this month.

The city clubs crunch showdown against fellow Premier League title hopefuls Glasgow on Wednesday, June 24 will be screened to the nation by Sky Sports.

And promoter Ged Rathbone is throwing open the Alwalton doors to junior sports teams from around the city.

The children will receive free entry as will one adult per five kids in any party with additional adults getting discounted admission of £10.

Rathbone said: We really want to see a big crowd for the visit of the TV cameras and what is likely to be one of our toughest tests of the season.

The response to this offer has already been great and we have roughly 350 kids pencilled in to attend.

But we still have room to accommodate more teams.

Teams interested should contact Rathbone on 07760 162164 or email motivecar@yahoo.co.uk. They can also get in touch through the @PboroPanthers account on Twitter or via https://www.facebook.com/peterboroughspeedway

Is the admission for the general public discounted or is it the normal price?

Normal admission unless you can follow in an adult with a group of brats and say that you're with them

Oh well,i'll watch this one on Sky then. Thanks for the info.

It'll be better live and you get the chance to do a Basil Fawlty if there's an irritating kid near you who doesn't like the chips.

Your right theres nothing better than actually being there watching it.But as Peterborough aren't my supported club I will watch it on telly. If they were to give a discount along the lines of what Swindon done I would have bought the whole family down along the A47 to watch.

I'd imagine that most of those who went to Swindon for a fiver to watch the so called highest level of British Speedway felt ripped off on both counts :P

In our case, it's the fine line between losing money and trying to get a crowd in. This looks the least painful option but will enable Pearson to say what a good job the promotion have done to get the hoards of kids in throwing rotten fruit at him.

Not the best headine to post. Whilst it isn't wholly inaccurate, it's easy to come to the wrong conclusion:
