Emmerdale

Recommended Posts

I'M told by her indoors that during an episode of Emmerdale this week a young couple talking about where they would most like to go on a date suggested speedway.

How romantic...

My dad took my mum to Swindon Speedway for one of there first dates. When my mum got home and her mum asked her where she'd been she didn't believe my mums answer.

30-odd years after they'ee still married and my mum has no interest in speedway - apparently her interest died within weeks of marrying my dad :D

I hope she didn't visit the scary bogs over on the cheap side of the abbey that would put anybody off. Edited by sidney

I took Mrs. CHR Stock Car Racing at Harringay on our second date. It was very nearly our last. It was a freezing cold March night and she hated it. I took her to speedway once and she hated that too, vowing to dump me if I subjected her to any more motor sports.

We will have been married 45 years next month

Worked for me. Married 46 years, and waiting for remission due to good behaviour.

Although I'm fortunate that Mrs Appleby is by no means adverse to going to speedway, I would never consider anything to do with speedway romantic.

Never watch soaps however it is thanks to speedway (or more to the point a return from a trip to Eastbourne and going in the local pub on our return) that I met him indoors................never saw him again for 4 years and then a mutual speedway loving friend brought him into the pub where I was working at the time..................the rest as they say is history...................been married 28 years in August.............its had its good and its bad times but we are still hanging in there.............just..............
