Newcastle V Plymouth Premier League Sunday 21st June 2015

Recommended Posts

Yes, the latest example of Plymouth's disrespect for the paying public of Tyneside: will the BSPA coffers be swelled by a fine? 15-9 and 4 heats, incidentally.

Maybe you should have a look to see why Plymouth have a rider missing before you decide to start typing on your keyboard.

Mr. Blobby, sorry I can't get my phone to quote, but to reply to your post, the point isn't why Benko is not here (everyone will have nothing but sympathy for him and his family)but the Plymouth promotion's failure to replace him. I wouldn't have commented if it were not for the history of Plymouth no-shows (i don't remember Ben Barker ever turning up).

Lewy, why would the position have been different if, God forbid, Benko had been injured? My point is that turning up without a full team is poor. Possibly an unworthy thought, but I wonder if more effort might have been put in if this meeting had been at Plymouth.

Best stop digging in that hole, we can hardly see the top of your hollow head ....

I dont see the issue with the post questioning why Plymouth wailed to get a guest. It's shocking, unprofessional and not fair on fans or team members to NOT have a rider in to replace Benko. Are there really no 3 pointers within reasonable travelling distance of Newcastle?

Every effort was made to get a guest unfortunately no one woud ride. You are not party to all the facts so it would be reasonble not to make assumptions in this instance

Its a sad reflection on the state of speedway. Not long ago teams would be able to borrow a local junior and have up to eight to choose from who had turned up for an after meeting ride and would be desperate for their chance

The trouble is if the rider is not up to speed he will have to take 3 rides.Do not know why simota did not have 7 rides as was only heat 2 plymouth had to go with 1 rider only not the other 2 heats as well.

The blank has to have 3 rides.

Just two National League meetings today claimed 7 potential stand-ins between them for Benko !!

Former Berwick reserve Liam Carr was Buxton's number-5 at home to a Stoke side featuring Teessider Danny Phillips (#4) and former Belle Vue reserve Lee Payne (#5) who guested for Somerset's Benji Compton on Friday plus Ryan MacDonald (#6) who's also made the odd Premier League appearance on northern tracks.

Meanwhile, recent Newcastle guest Luke Riddick along with Berwick's regular number-8 Stefan Farnaby were both busy for Mildenhall at home to a Cradley line-up including former Scunthorpe reserve Matt Williamson.

That little lot would have wiped out at least half of Plymouth's more realistic options for covering the deeply unfortunate circumstances of the Benko bereavement.

Doesn't have to be an NL guest anymore. A PL 3 pointer could have ridden (Rafal Konpoka for instance). Getting one is another thing though!

But wasn't it announced by Roy over the mic that Trigger had rung round everyone in the area, and nobody was able to take the ride at such short notice. Even my own junior Gems riders, two were injured and unable to ride whilst the other one had just put his engine in in prep for our next junior meetings.

It's all very well for the smart arses on here to heap criticism of Plymouths predicament, but when the full facts are made available they might want to regret being so critical. But on the other hand...........

Konopka was asked but i think their was a problem because hes not in a declared 1-7

guested last night at workington but maybe redcar's redeclared team kicks in today

sad news for benko but i will hold my hand up and say i thought plymouth were up to there old tricks again before i read the thread

a few years ago (2 or 3) they turned up at workington with only 5 riders and only 1 reserve they were just taking the you know what running with weak patched up team but this was under a different promotion im sure

we all know there was problems in the past

meetings should not go ahead if a team dosnt start with 2 reserves in my opinion if another rider pulls out during the meeting its really bad for the paying fans all heats should start with 4 riders

unless 1 is exclueded

Agreed. In this particular case I think we should all cut Plymouth some slack.
