Berwick V Plymouth 20/6/15

None, I'll privately let you know my connections to the various holiday parks, the uninitiated would think they would be the obvious target, but it is just not the case.

For several reasons, which would be breaking confidence were I to post on a public forum.

Was good to see the O2 shop helping to distribute the posters.

I think the posters are the best I've seen for a speedway club. Very professional and always have current fixtures on them.

Another bit of progress that again is turned into a negative by the usual crowd.

I agree with you the posters are good quality, and producing them is a massive step forward in informing the public, Surely it is a positive suggestion to get the posters into as many places that you can. Having a massive pile in the track shop or in the O2 shop hoping that someone will collect them is as useless as a chocolate fireguard and defeats the whole point

me, i or my family have had a caravan in the area for decades, i didnt buy one there for the speedway but i certainly went most saturdays with the kids spending a good few bob....because in a nutshell, there is naff all else to do as a family in Berwick on a saturday evening :)

Can you tell us which parks you have connections too then?

If you don't tell them, they won't know, by telling them you stand a chance of some coming to speedway. There is no doubt the two main camps Haggerston and Magdaline Fields, do their damdest to keep their happy campers on the sites to get as much revenue as they can. We are however surrounded by many independantly run caravan sites who do not.

Devils on Tour will be there on Saturday cheering on the Devils then venturing into the black and gold bar after the meeting as usual

thats my point, over the years id think id been to, stayed at or had vans at several in the Borders and i have witnessed little or no promotional material at just about all.... Think biged under estimates the pulling power of a family NIGHT out in the area for visitors....there is little or no competition really.

How about not retaliating Scott? Just let people have their say and then they've nowt else to bite back to! There's just some people out their who don't like our promotion and what they do.. that ain't a bad thing.. its up to them! Think how boring the world would be if we all got along.

Your main thing is just to keep attending and paying your dues as you do!

It's a fair enough point Sarah, but I would say that it is a bad thing as it is having an effect, really quite a worrying one.

Why would anyone sink tens (probably hundreds) of thousands of pounds into something to get nothing but a load of grief in return?

All I care about is having a club to support, I am seriously worried that we will not have that next year.

Lots and lots of businesses and business men do this, not just speedway promoters....

Hundreds of thousands?? Who you kidding? :)

Yes, it's a positive suggestion to get as many out there as possible. I presume you have one in your shop.

Your second point is erroneous.

Absolutely, I would love to get into a debate with Bigeddiechek, and I enjoy reading his posts. Sadly, it either turns personal or ends up with an I know more than you posts, so I don't bother anymore. :(

Screm, I have opened up the opportunity for debate recently, particularly to discuss the more successful meetings of late.

Really out of interest to see if you thought they were an improvement, what with you being a vocal critic.

Sadly you declined to comment, either in reply to me, or in general on those threads.

So, take your pop if you like, and maybe I am just one of the too vocal observers on here.

I dont have the official one, I have a Rocky one, he takes the bother to produce it delivers it, puts one in Skellys at the same time, he also puts one up every month in barrels. Even when he had the stroke, he sent his wife up with a new poster.

Certainly can't knock that Taffy. We need more people with that positive attitude towards Berwick Speedway.

Any reason why you couldn't have both up?

If the club aren't allowed to promote within the camps, how about catching the tourists when they are in the town centre by taking a pitch or a market stall on the high street on a Saturday morning / afternoon at the market? I've made a suggestion to the club saying as much in an e-mail. I must admit I have little or no knowledge how much the stall pitches cost or how to go about getting one (council?) but during the summer the high street is usually busy with shoppers. Get a couple of riders in kevlars over there with a couple of bikes? It might spark off a bit of interest.

Excellent suggestion.

I don't know exactly how much it would cost for a pitch on the market but I think it would be about £50

te caravan sites in the area ok we have the two big ones at Berwick and haggy but in a 20 mile radius we have a fee more east ord, spittal, barmoor, waren mill, bradfod kaimis, budle bay, eyemouth coldingham, scoutscroft and I'm sure I'll have missed some these are the places that should be targeted especially as s lot of these sited have owned csravans that people come to most weekends. I remember a family coming to the track one night about 3 years ago coz they heard the bikes they had just bought a van on ord and wanted to find out what was going on and they became regular attendees after that

i had a van at east ord, it didnt have much for kids on an evening so the speedway was ideal and just a short walk away, funny enough though it was one of the sites that had a little info about the bandits....

You are right people hear the bikes and are drawn to find out about it.

I know I`m going to regret this. :)

In recent weeks I have had two short breaks, one in Prague for SGP, and then another in Kings Lynn for SWC so I haven't had the chance to read each and every post on the Berwick threads. But my attention is yours, to which subject to you want me to have an opinion on.

Sounds like you've not been short of a speedway fix, I'm envious!

Hopefully the promotion or somebody will see some of the suggestions on here and take them on board. One positive note is that there are plenty of ideas coming forward. Plenty of food for thought for the commercial department and promotion.
