Berwick V Plymouth 20/6/15

Recommended Posts

My point about knocking on doors was more aimed at Berwick than anything else, Berwick is a small town with lots of small businesses, you may need to go to them rather than they come to you. To be fair to the club they look to have already done that with their group of associate sponsors.

You mention Perryman`s buses, its great they have come forward to sponsor a meeting later in the season, I think they may be their first sponsorship, I followed one of their buses through the town today and on the back they were carrying an advert for the Kings Arms Hotel and their restaurants. Maybe the club could look in that direction to take Berwick Speedway to lots of people.

already mentioned this to the promotion got prices s etc for cost of advertising. Received email from club saying it was definitely worth considering.

Maybe they could look at taxi`s in Berwick to, maybe they get some advertising space there to.

What are the KPIs like for that?

Purely out of interest, I have not idea what they are for this type of advertising.

No idea, though surely the more people see Berwick`s advertisement as possible the more likelihood of them coming to the speedway, especially now in summertime with school holidays just round the corner. Looks like we are back to the speculate to accumulate argument.

Advertising very often results in just being money down the pan, that's why I ask.

It's important to know the effectiveness to at least attempt to calculate any ROI.

Only the big brands really benefit from it, and that is because they have massive budgets and ram themselves down out throats via multiple high-profile routes.

Posters and a stall on the market are much safer bets, only in my opinion of course.

I know banners are very cost effective and I've seen that worked well by the speedway too.

Agree, throwing money at the wrong kind, or the wrong places for advertising is silly, especially for the likes of Berwick.

Obviously good idea with posters, maybe the club could look at doing some poster specifically for the Polish shops we have around the Borders. Doesn't have to be anything different to the one they produce now, but just have it in Polish language. Should be reasonably cheap to, and with a bit of luck would pay for itself if we get one or two of the speedway daft Polish along.

That's not a bad idea at all. Worth sending to the club?

I have put that idea on here a time or two, must be worth considering especially when you think of how many Poles turned up when Berwick hosted one of the Under 21 Final a couple of seasons ago. I accept that on that night they had a number of their own riders to support, Jankowski, Zsmarslik etc but even if a small percentage of those there that night come on a regular or semi regular bases it will benefit the club.

You should send them a message via their website. View from the 3rd bend seems to have had a positive response when they did that.

It does make sense.

Could we have a debating time out just to apologise to the rest of BSF who would normally come onto the Berwick threads to view much in fighting and name calling, seems for a short time only normality as broken out. Though there is a meeting tomorrow, so expect normal service to be resumed very soon people.

The posters surely are not aimed at the fans or the few that recieve the newsletter, these fans come anyway, the posters are for the public at large to inform them that speedway is on, and try and get new faces on a Saturday night. It is commendable that posters have been printed, but to rely on self distribution is crazy, for example most B&B providers are not interested in speedway but would gladly put up a poster, however it is unlikely collect one to put up they need to be distributed. This surely is the Commercial Managers job

Very close to the club

Another forum account from the same person perhaps

I reckon the riders themselves could play a big part in promoting the club. Whether it be school visits or the market stall idea or something in between, riders could help. Young kids seem to very impressed by the sight of riders in kevlars and a bike. After all, they will be the beneficiaries in the end. The more money the club brings in, the more likely they are to get paid on time etc. Surely it's not too much to ask for them to turn up a couple of hours earlier than normal.

There was actually a good idea in the Speedway Star last week as well. A meet and greet with riders and the fans outside the turnstiles. Even if the riders take a turn, again kids could be very impressed meeting the riders.
