phillipsr
Ok, you're right. We should be tolerant of riders forcing other riders into dangerous and unpredictable high speed crashes, with very little protection on them. They won't get hurt or killed, that's obviously just a silly exaggeration. This was clearly just a one off incident, completely out of character, and Greg was in complete control of his wellbeing the whole time. There wasn't a chance that Greg could have broken his neck, punctured a lung or worse. His reaction to Nicki was absolutely ridiculous! He clearly has some sort of anger problem, and obviously wasn't reacting to the fear and adrenaline of having his life put at risk by a dangerous rider. Nicki should go on as he is, and everything will be just fine. I guess I was just being a complete moron. I'll leave it to you guys now, as you clearly have a much better grasp on reality than I do. When you leave careful not to slip and break your neck as you will be really missed!!!

Gavan
Yes, I do have to bring the name of a much missed rider into it, and so we all should! The death of a well respected and loved rider should be used to make the sport a safer place. I wonder what the family and friends of Lee would say if they saw this incident? When you see a good man lose his life so prematurely, you cannot tolerate riders like Nicki Pedersen who will be responsible for yet another man losing his life. Yes, I had assumed some level of intelligence and context by the reader... so I will make it clearer. If I had to pick between a rider breaking his neck at the hands of Nicki Pedersen, or Nicki Pedersen breaking his own neck, I'd take Nicki every time. You're embarrassing yourself now. I have had messages from other posters who agree with everything I have said, but unfortunately people like yourself make them too shy to speak their own mind. Of course any normal fan would prefer that no rider breaks their neck, myself included quite obviously, but with the way Nicki is riding it is only a matter of time before somebody else is seriously injured or worse, and if I had to pick between Nicki doing it to somebody else, or to himself, I'd pick himself every time. He may have been riding for 20 years but he's getting old and desperate now, his moves are getting more dangerous and aggressive and it is only a matter of time before somebody lands awkwardly and we are mourning the loss of another good man. I sincerely hope that day never comes, as all supporters do, but if that day does come, it will be people like you who called these sorts of scenarios "exaggerated" and did nothing to speak up against them that will share the blood on their hands. you need to stop posting and think about what you write. you wish Nicki to break his neck what a morinic statement. oh and for your info the move THIS TIME by Nicki was not that hard I'd probably look a little closer to home on that ban. no mate ive had a ban for calling someone a numpty. you on the other hand are posting what can only be decribed as quite sick and disgusting comments
ruffdiamond
Greg has hardly had any problems from other riders due to his excelant starts, he is way infront and left the others standing, that is what has won him so many races in his life time. I think now that he is getting older his reaction times are that bit slower and he is now mixing it umonst the other riders, so he is now having to race much harder to get a win, most times he is now in second or third place, his bikes seem much slower or is it just Gregg not sure. With all that said Nikki rides like a lunatic at times, some of the moves he makes the other riders are very lucky to not have been taken of on a streacher, seen him so many times with riders getting to the point of fisty cuffs with him. One day he will go to far with the dirty moves he makes. I don't think he has the respect from any of the top riders. Just hope that if he fences a rider one gay that it dosen't end that riders career, they race for the love of racing and don't need to put their lives at risk because some idiot can't seem to care one bgit about the other people on the track, at times he races like he is the only person out there. He is a danger on 2 wheels. They have to put a stop to riders fencing other riders before something nasty happens, it is getting worse year by year. saw some hard racing in the 60's 70's and 80's but evn so the riders had more repect for the others on the track, can't say Nikki gives a toss about who he tries to fence on more than one occasion. If you keep banging on the Devils door, one day he'll open it,,, dunno why he'd have to fence a gay rider, that's a bit racist innit ??? FGS - give it a rest. You're becoming a complete moron now. wadda mean, 'now' ??? ;-)
TheReturn
The Hancock statement is up: http://www.greghancock.com/2015/06/17/team-hancock-racing-statement/ Hancock is really living up to his name during this 24 hours.. I quote him I reacted out of self defence. How does launching yourself at someone unable to fight back at that moment be seemed self-defence? That statement is so unprofessional. If he has a grievance, take it to the sports governing bodies.

The White Knight
The biter bit eh Pedersen? I have had no time for the bloke since the incident in the Coventry pits with his teammate Wayne Carter. He's been winding folks up and pushing his luck with his riding style for years and sooner or later something like this was bound to happen. The only surprise was that it was Hancock So what to do with Ryback Hancock? Couldn't give a monkeys one way or another but feed him more before Cardiff Nah!!! JBL (John 'Bradshaw' Layfield) was the 'Clothesline' specialist. As for the Hancock v. Pedersen 'Wrestlemania' Event - just handbags really. Hancock should receive a Ban for violent conduct. More importantly Nicki Pedersen should receive a Ban for being - Nicki Pedersen. :D

pandorum
The Hancock statement is up: http://www.greghancock.com/2015/06/17/team-hancock-racing-statement/ OK got to give Greg some credit for having the guts to apologise for his completely out of character and also out of order reaction to one of Pedersen's trade mark moves. Unlike some other speedway rider whose name escapes me at the moment :) He accepted what he did was wrong and said sorry. That's fine with me but I still think Greg deserves a ban as his excuses for his actions cannot stand up as a defence. Not a lengthy one but a ban nonetheless. Nicki being a coward is old news now after the Zagar incident when he wet his pants. He is no hard man just a rider who acts hard on the track but scuttles back into his pit area where he can laugh and sneer from the safety of his pit crew. Its something speedway refs should deal with as a body especially when they have the technology to see in slow motion. Thursdays fencing of Belousov was a no brainer but the ref still got it wrong which shows how inconsistent they are even with all this new technology there is a long way to go. Nicki should be punished but is there a facility to do such a thing? Greg's is clear cut. You cannot allow that and people saying it was handbags.......sorry folks but that was a bloody dangerous and stupid thing to do. Jaw Pedersen when he dismounts that would be fine and a fitting punishment for such a cowardly rider. Greg should have received a racing ban and not a slap on the wrist. His crime was way worse than the snivelling little Danish coward Edited June 17, 2015 by pandorum

dave69
I think Greg is a great bloke and a great rider which exacerbates his crime all the more. A £400 fine is a ridiculous statement by the authorities and shows that exactly what The Return says is true. Hancock is the peoples rider whilst Nicki is not. If Nicki had done that to Greg then this board would have exploded in its indignation and would be demanding he be executed by flame thrower A two week ban would make an example of someone who has huge respect in the speedway world and send the message that you can't do that on a speedway track. You've been watching those ISIS videos again ?

Star Lady
Its something speedway refs should deal with as a body especially when they have the technology to see in slow motion. Absolutely spot on. Refs should exc riders, warn them and if necessary report the incident to the appropriate authority who after a defined number of incidents must issue a ban. That is the only way to rid the sport of dangerous riders.

Not exactly the professional approach we have come to expect from Greg, which to be fair he has always conducted himself professionally. That statement really is unprofessional (at best), some of the comments about Nicki and questioning his mentality are beneath Greg.
The White Knight
What did he think Nicki was going to do? Pull a gun out of his kevlars Fair point I will give Greg Hancock this - he has made a gracious apology to the Supporters, Authorities and Clubs for his actions last night. Anybody can lose their temper as Hancock did in this Case. The important thing is that Greg Hancock has admitted the he has done wrong. Would that all Riders would do the same.

That statement really is unprofessional (at best), some of the comments about Nicki and questioning his mentality are beneath Greg. That bit was overkill. We all know Nicki is 2 slices of bread short of a sandwich. It was the right thing to apologise but the rest was tittle tattle and trying to excuse his actions which was not so good. Absolutely spot on. Refs should exc riders, warn them and if necessary report the incident to the appropriate authority who after a defined number of incidents must issue a ban. That is the only way to rid the sport of dangerous riders. Throw a rider out of a meeting. It's been done before. Then add a weeks ban from racing which will hit them in the pocket and give them time to consider what they have done. The speedway equivalent of sitting in the naughty corner as some of them act like kids.
BWitcher
It's all well and good calling for bans on riders etc.. but where do you draw the line? Not everyone agrees that move from Nicki was all that bad. Hard yes, but there was a gap there, Hancock had made a mistake and drifted wide. There was a slight bit of contact, nothing more. Yet folk are up in arms and want a ban. Ban someone for that, you won't have many riders left come season end. Knock on effects are racers will be worried about trying to overtake, racing will become ever more dull and boring and you'll all be moaning about how great the sport was back in the day when we had 'characters' and riders that were hard and overtaking took place. Another knock on effect is, you already get riders taking dives in an attempt to get reruns and riders excluded.. it would be even worse with them trying to get someone banned.
