TheReturn
Forgive me if this was discussed anywhere else. I have never seen a rider with long hair protruding out the back of a helmet like Swden's Lindback had again this evening, like much of the season. Is that not a danger (for him mainly)? I am surprised there is not some ruling about it needing to be tied within the helmet in case of an accident and it being sucked into a wheel or something. I grimace seeing Hancock's arm getting sucked into a bike in the SGP last season, and I assume it would be much easier for hair to get tangled somewhere in the event of a crash. Triple.H.
Dunno how old you are but I remember riders in the 70s that made Antonio look a baldy bollocks. Though I agree that in certain circumstances be could cause injury to himself but isn't that the same risk as in any workplace meaning non paper shuffling computer watching jobs of course

I am sure there are dangers in every job, but they usually don't include racing at about 60mph on machines with no brakes. I am not suggesting he cuts them off, I am just asking the question how dangerous could it be.

Deano
Health and Safety legislation, has rules I believe, where long hair has to be netted or tied up. Most companies would enforce it as they wouldn't want any law suits against them. I guess as he is self employed, he can't really sue himself in the event of an accident involving his hair. There's danger in everything we do every day I totally agree in certain situations Lindbacks hair could cause injury to himself or others but it's highly unlikely.IMO sometimes we need to get away from the mollycoddled HSE crap we encounter everyday. Grachan
Jeff Sexton. Anyone remember him? Rode for USA against Rest of the World in about 1975 or 1976 at Houston Astrodome and was brilliant. Hair flying about all over the place.

*JJ
The rules actually state that hair should be kept within the race suit, but no-one seems to enforce it. I help an old-fashioned rider who has hair down his back; it flows out while he is riding, and nobody has said anything except for an announcer who compared him to Adam Skornicki! TheCookster
Current Coventry manager, Gary Havelock, famously sported "dreads" when he became World Champion in 1992 and continued to race with long, flowing hair for most of his racing career.
