Sheffield V Newcastle Premier League Thursday 18th June 2015

I thought Josh bates rode very well to-night he was in control of the bike and rode with a bit of style. I saw him speaking to Steady before the meeting it must have rubbed off. To easy for the Tigers. Newcastle were very disappointing apart from Hall, and he never won a race.

we arnt good enough, havent been all season and arnt now....

we seen plenty of his back tonight by the looks of it.

We even made simon lambert (gws) look like simon stead on sunday :)

And yet still nothing is done about it and people ask why supporters don't turn up - simple the team has never been strong enough from day one and all the people stating that this is all that can be afforded - well don't complain then or ask for fans to turn up if that's the case. I think it's too late now even if changes are made as the season is already over should have been done weeks ago if not before a wheel was even turned.

Newcastle fans - its no use slagging off the guests(doolan and wilko) when they both outscored your number one, poor showings on the road could be a lot to do with not having a genuine number one. tigers though were on fire tonight, top performances from bates, bellego, andre, ash and Jason.

we havent hes a Berwick fan.

unless he was free, then we used some of our tiny budget to make Ludvig an asset!! And put cups of tea up to £1.20 :)

I think we're too far into the season for changes to have much effect. The position is not surprising but still disappointing; it looks like another season as also-rans and we're getting close to the time when you look at the fixture list in the programme and think that there aren't many meetings left...but it seems the season only started a few weeks ago.

Such is life.

Tonight's match wasn't our team though was it? 2 of our 3 guests (kudos to RH though) had a disappointing meeting. It's pointless saying a team's not strong enough when it wasn't actually the team. 3 of the 4 riders missing tonight have promise to improve - plus Stevie Worrall who has been mostly sensational. Lewi K is much better than tonight's score.

Good job Sheffield's guest only scored 6. An equivalent Simon Stead Score and it really would have been a massacre. The score doesn't reflect some great racing last night though. Give us racing like that every week and there will be few compaints regardless of how many guests the opposition have.

suppose it doesn't help matters, knowing that the 'turnip twins' Swedish match was rained off :-(

You couldn't make it up.

There appeared to be a starting gate malfunction last night, I wondered if the two tapes infringements genuinely were infringements?

Whilst it was a good result for Sheffield supporters who seemed fairly thick on the ground, it must be very disheartening for "genuine" Newcastle team members and supporters alike to see a result like this?

That said, it was a better match than the result would suggest.

I didn't really take much notice of the score last night until after heat 13, and was quiet surprised how far Sheffield were infront. The scoreline certainly didn't reflect the racing for me as it seemed much closer, although Sheffield were always in control.

Some great races last night and all the tigers seemed to be on form except Arthur who struggled abit. Bates was very impressive and hopefully he's making that step up. Really good to see Ash Birks flying again, Garrity and Andre unstopable and Bellego gave some all out action racing. Good solid crowd again too and nice little promotion with the air horns for the kids, should do that more often.

Can't quiet understand the moaning from diamonds fans though, you only had 3 teams members racing yesterday, so to say your embarassed etc is strange, it basically wasn't your team. Move on and go support your lads on sunday i'd say!

Got nothing to do with yesterday's match, I have made these comments since day one and if you really think that this team is strong enough to challenge on any front then your clearly kidding yourself. Steve Worrall has been a big plus and you have to give the lad a massive amount of credit for that but the team is certainly not strong enough and never has been or will be - nothing to do with yesterday's result and by the way the score wasn't that much better than the League Cup one either.

Again it's not one match though why are people thinking this - can anyone on here please tell me that this team is strong enough without their black and white blinkers on.

That's maybe part of the problem with speedway,,, there are a few who have 'said this from day one',,, but to say the team will 'never' be strong enough is a bit hard predict, unless you're a clairvoyant,,,

and by the way, yesterday's score was worse than the League Cup one, but don't let the facts get in the way ;-)

Are people over-looking that we at Newcastle have an in-experienced team?

Let's not forget that Lewis Kerr was a 3 point reserve only 3 years ago and, like Ludvig last year, it isn't really his fault he's at number one. Steve W is only a few years into his speedway career. Ludvig is Ludvig and in the grand scheme of things still relatively inexperienced. Lewis Rose only just starting out really, too.

Also most are coming back from injuries.

Not excuses, really. These are just pointers.

Perhaps we should give them a bit of slack.

No it's not rocket science to say this team wasn't strong enough from day one and you certainly didn't have to be a clairvoyant to see it either - did I say that the score was better than the League Cup I said it wasn't much different but ahem don't let facts get in the way!
