Mark
I think Nicki will retire in the winter, just a hunch – I don’t think he will play at it very long if he isn’t going to be competitive. Zero chance he will retire.
billywamill
Pedersen is the current World number 3 - why would he retire??? He's having a poor year by his standards but his gating skills are still there, he just isn't quite on the ball speed wise this year. That can easily change. The same questions were being asked about Greg over ten years ago. According to some people in the know back then he wasn't good enough for the Grand Prix at the time. I'm sure he hasn't done too badly since then Oh and by the way, those who say Hancock is boring - just look through the Grand Prix for the last two or three years. He's made more passes than the majority of competitors in the series. I personally think his pass on Doyley in the Swedish Grand Prix was the best seen in the series this year in terms of control and execution. As to Doyle, it wasn't so long a go people were comparing to Pedersen in terms of the reckless moves he was making. His amazing progress this year has seen him curb his wilder side and if he wins the title, it would be fully deserved. It's been a fantastic Grand Prix series this year - its just a pity no terrestrial channels show any of it
sparkafag
10 years ago Hancock was 36 - Pedersen is currently 39 and languishing 9th in the World (not 3rd), I also don’t think Hancock can constantly be used as a reference point re riders career decisions given he is an anomaly rather than the norm. Pedersen is now comparable age to Rickardsson, Crump Adams when they decided to retire - all of whom both went out at a higher level than Pedersen has achieved this year. He (Nicki) just doesn’t strike me as the type to languish around the lower end of the series, like the above mentioned riders pride above all else dictates decisions and the reality is that they probably knew within themselves they didn’t have another World Title in them – I wouldn’t be shocked if Nicki was having those same doubts. As I said though, it is a hunch, little more than that. Edited September 12, 2016 by The Mockingjay
iris123
Could you compare him to Gollob? Gollob had a few years in the doldrums(for him at least) when i thought he should really pack it in.He finished 6th,7th,8th and even when he finished 4th he had a couple of really bad GPS and was way off the leaders anyway and with a few youngsters coming on the scene like Emil,i thought there was no way he was going to take a title, but he did at the age of 38-9.Wouldn't put it past Nicki to at least finish on the podium again if he gets some fast bikes
Fromafar
We can criticise Greg for age, boring etc .but I the last couple of GP's he has done his fair share of passing. He is a remarkable rider for his age.Im not his biggest fan but you can't knock him.

THE DEAN MACHINE
Talking to a friend who went , he said apart from the meeting itself the rest was a shambles and he said squashed like sardines in a tin for an hour and a half to get through 1 gate was beyond a shambles ,

waiheke1
No doubt BSI will work with the local organisers to improve things next year etc.. etc..Tbf the local organisers did manage to avoid a fixture clash with women's basketball, so you can't criticise them too much...

The rest was allright though, not the usual GP standard but ok. Teterow will improve for next year, and also the track will have a 'makeover'. Teterow will improve for next year, and also the track will have a 'makeover'. he said they run out of beer and bottled water , no ticket reading machines so in theory just could of photocopied a ticket and got in ,what would of happened had German riders not had spare tyres? And who was to blame for the tyres no show , it wasn't an oversight ,fans bringing fireworks in , I've asked this before but I will ask again , why not gustrow ? To me this smacks of doing things on the cheap , maybe one sport should take over the GPs ? They seem to have fresh ideas and the sponsors to back their ideas , they just lack the prestige of the competition , they even have a logo for their product Edited September 22, 2016 by THE DEAN MACHINE

iris123
but they put up the money for the euro championship or are we talking about one being reasonable and the other not Could well be the case.I know Güstrow a few years ago sort of complained that it cost less to hold a European meeting(might have been the U19 team event) than it did to hold a German national meeting
PHILIPRISING
The obvious answer is Guestrow is not willing to put up the necessary dosh, whereas Teterow is. BSI ran the event with Teterow ... Gustrow is already an SEC venue.
iris123
I also heard from a source in Russia that it was costs and conditions that stopped Togliatti wanting to host a GP and instead plumped for the SEC

Politics as much as money.

PHILIPRISING
IMG Russia Botanicheskiy Pereulok 5 BC "Botanicheskiy 5" Moscow 129090 Russian Federation I'M aware of that but IMG Russie said that they very much doubted the fees would be forthcoming and quoted other logistical problems and were generally not in favour. Obviously OneSport have made light of those but don't think BSI/IMG had any real appetite to go there.
