Newcastle V Peterborough Premier League Sunday 14th June 2015

Recommended Posts

After the away win at top team Ipswich last Thursday, I look forward to a cracking meeting against another title favourite in Peterborough. Losing Allen was a big blow for them, but having the comfort of using guests more suited to some circuits has cushioned the blow of losing him. Allen is not that good at Brough, either arriving sick or being withdrawn due to shoulder popouts. Been very unlucky and Barker should improve on Allen's normal contribution. We have a full team once again and signs are that most of our riders are improving their form. Just hoping we can get more away wins, to help us flirt with the top teams, all of them have now ridden their meetings at Brough. Decent weather might tempt a few more fans out and watch the improving situation.

After the meeting we have the Gems against Northside Stars. After this afternoon's great win against Castleford(riding at Northside) it will be interesting if the Gems will be able to hold a very strong Stars team, who also won against Berwick this afternoon. Hope the ref can get through the meeting quicker than normal and see over 2 hours of 21heats of racing. Bring it on.

Are teams allowed to use r/r or guests indefinitely nowadays? I thought there was a 28 day rule or is it because there is an acceptance that there is basically nobody out there to sign. It's a serious problem for speedway. It is almost becoming rare to see two seven man teams on the tack and I can't remember the last time I saw two teams tracking line-ups without r/r or guests.

At least the Diamonds will be back to full strength. Hope we get a surface which allows good racing tonight, it was very dry and slick last week. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing Robert Lambert ride.

I think there is still a 28 day guest rule in effect but how it's interpreted is up to those " Powers that be " to decide , rather depends on things like which side of the bed they got out of or is it the wrong time of the month ?

On young Robert Lambert im thinking most Peterborough fans are saying the same thing !

it's sometimes wise to sleep on the settee during 'ladies week' and, you can only get out of 1 side of it ;-)

It is 11.10 am as I write this. It is no longer raining steadily but there is a very light drizzle or is it just the Panthers fans dribbling on about Robert Lambert  If you want rid of him give our promoters a call and we will take him off your hands. He should have been a Newcastle rider from last year but the BSPA blocked his move to us.

More importantly the local forecast is for the rain to clear by 13.00hrs and it to be dry afternoon and evening. Our top-notch track staff will do their best to get the track not just rideable but raceable

What a strange few days!!

Newcastle at Ipswich

Ipswich at Peterborough

Peterborough at Newcastle

Throw in the Scottish derby reversals as well.

That wouldve been some accumulator to go for!

Well done Panthers and R.Lambert answered his critics in the best way possible (and I was one of them)..though some of the things said have been OTT..but hey that's internet forums for you...hope the other Lambo is OK?..as he has been a revelation for us this year.

Both Lamberts were very good, best team won.

Heat 14 carnage, Ben Barker ran the length of the track to see if they were ok... Nice too see... Yet 2 mins earlier deliberately nearly put Lindgren in the home straight fence twice... Naughty.

did look like that,,, then the incident in the next heat,,, and the Lewis Kerr 'off',,, all looked dubious, to me.

Peterborough were good and, I enjoyed the meeting, disappointed with the result tho,,, but a suppose, that's just the way it goes, sometimes :-)

Disappointing night for the Diamonds on the back of Thursday but the Panthers deserved to win. Track was much better than last week and as a result it was a good meeting.

For me the Panthers bullied the Diamonds a bit tonight and were more aggressive in the 50-50's. Robert Lambert may not be Mr popular with the home crowd for his none show on Friday but he was great to watch tonight. The BSPA decision not to give him a wildcard in the British Final just does not make any sense whatsoever. Absolutely crazy. Ostergaard & Barker are always good value here and Simon Lambert rides this place much better than he used to. Very unlucky not to score more than he did and hope he is ok after a pretty horrible crash in heat 14.

As for the Diamonds, Steve didn't look that quick early on but pulled it round and did very well to win his last two rides. Ludvig looked very quick once he changed bikes and gave it everything but his abysmal starting left him far too much to do. Main problem for us tonight was Lewis Kerr, superb at Ipswich and generally going well on the road but for whatever reason he just hasn't got going at all around Brough this year and seems to have lost his confidence a bit on his home track.

Really good and very competitive meeting though.
