Cradley V Kent 10/06/15

Recommended Posts

With new additions to the team it will be interesting to see how they go. However I'm a bit puzzled by the announcement on the Kings web site. It says RR for Aaron in one sentence but in the team it has Hoskins and Smith. Which is correct? Surely we're not blooding two new riders in one night or does Chris think there's not a lot to loose and see who's most promising?

Smith has come in to replace Sheppard.

As is usual when a team has R/R they also name a NO 8 - Hoskins.

He may get a ride.

I fear a heavy defeat something like 56-36.

Won't be the easiest of debuts against Cradley and you can never expect immediate fireworks but purely through looking at photos and videos of Smith racing in Poland I'd say Kent might be onto a winner here! Knows how to wind it on in the big open spaces they have, hopefully will get down to Kent next Monday to see his home debut.

R/R definitely weakens the side for Kent, especially having a 3 pointer in the main team although it does give the home fans the chance of seeing Shanes again I suppose?

Who is eligble to take the RR for Aaron and is it one ride per rider?

The rider one above Baseby in the averages which is James Shanes and all below (Ayres, Couzins, Verge and Smith), only Ben Morley can't.

Those in the top 5 can take one of his rides each, reserves can take any amount within their 7 maximum rides permitted.

Make sense?

Jack Smith looks really promising, can gate, good racer & not afraid to mix it. Just what's needed to kick-start the season

Don't know how he got excluded from Ht.6 after a massive nudge from Perks!

Deffo massive nudge from Perks can't believe Ronnie Allan didn't see it

Indeed, must have been blinded by the sun.

Thanks Ash, I can just about follow that, well explained.

Well I didn't think that was too bad against Cradley away. Pity that Jack got that knock in Ht 6 and then to rub salt into the wounds was excluded. Disappointing that Danno didn't pick up any points from the reserve berth.

Was brilliant listening to the live commentary on BBC WM it felt like you was actually there. Wish BBC Kent would do the same for us at Sittingbourne!

Looking forward to Monday at CP now!

I didn't get up to this one as stupid work got in the way but it looks like the same old story?

How were the Kent lower tier in terms of pace as the updates print a pretty alarming picture?

Was Smith feeling the effects of his off and hence his replacement?

1 ride and the usual fall for Hoskins. Fingers crossed its the last time he gets a Kings jacket dirty (or in fact gets a Kings jacket ever!)

Thats a little harsh, Stick with young Mr smith & i have no idea why he was excluded in heat 6. All 4 back first corner etc.

The bottom end struggled for pace, of that there can be no doubt.

Couzins had his points 'gifted', but fair play to the lad for getting 4 safe, steady laps done and the bike kept running. So in that regard he's completing laps and in the running to pick up points rather than being in a points scoring position and just throwing it away one way or another.

I was disappointed with Verge as I thought he might be a bit closer to the action more. He got a point in heat 12, holding off Harris. He held his nerve and, again, got the job done when he was in a position to.

Hoskins is way out of his depth. Sorry, that is just the harsh reality. He was half a lap ahead of Perks, whose bike had packed up, and still got passed and beaten for the point having remounted his machine.

Smith is a 'watch this space' rider. I saw enough to think this even though his evening was somewhat ruined. I and everyone around me immediately called Perks at fault for the crash, though nothing sinister, so he was very unfortunate not to at the very least get an all 4 back. He may have felt the effects later because it was a big off that I think everyone was relieved to see him walk away from.

At the other end the top three proved very lively and were a threat in virtually all of their heats between them. I'm convinced Shanes would have won at least two had he been the lead rider as he appeared quicker but couldn't get through. Ayres got better later in the meeting and just gave it too much in heat 15.

Morely had a blip on the score chart with a last in heat 13 but there was nothing in it. Superb race between all four riders and frankly any one of them could have been first or last.

On the whole there were many positives for Kent to take from an away meeting. There will be some teams you come up against where there are more opportunities for the bottom end to nick those crucial 3rd places, assuming your top end are winning races on the same night! :P

Just on a different subject.

Where has the Danish Tourist fixture for Kent gone ?

On Kent site the Laurels is back on July 13 ?

I think K Lynn and Mildenhall are also supposed to race against them
