highroad119
Time for heat 1 was 57.5, thats how many minutes it took to run it. Couldnt make this up today. Awful 3 hour meeting which descended into farce. Must be some reason we couldnt do green light starts. Afraid we lost the plot today. Thoughts are with kozza. spin king
Quick question, there was a new track record time set today. Â Does that time stand with the problems with the tapes?

george.m
All the money and can't even get the basics right 45 minutes in and not even one race done yet. And when the tapes are fixed and working we'll still have "all the money"!
MD
What an absolute apology of a speedway meeting today. It was never going to be a classic with Scunthorpe arriving with 2 guests plus r/r and Glasgow r/r for Morris, and one of the poorest referees in speedway. Â The tapes issue was farcical, again, why we waited to reinstall the old ones is anyones guess, could have saved us 30 minutes just running the elastic. Â Having been kept waiting for 60 mins already any referee with an ounce of interest in the sport would have pushed the 2 minutes on straight after each heat other than those with riders having 2 in a row, not the dishcloth. To add insult he never once put the 2 minutes on straight after a false start and allowed the riders to come and go as they wanted from the pits when they should have been disqualified for leaving the track. Ht14 he awarded second to Palovaara who was last when Lunna was wiped out by Ben Wilson. Totally incompetent. Â I'm not a huge fan of Jim Sarjeant he's a younger version of James Wright who anticipates the start and gets away with it more than not. He will get found out in long term but today he irked me once again by jumping early and causing the racing to be delayed. Â Carl Wilkinson is next to get it, having blown his only engine on a TR ride he then did not appear for his third ride. Is he so unpopular with his team mates no one would lend him a bike, even supposing he trundled round at the back to avoid damaging it. Thoroughly unprofessional! A van pulled out of the track as Kozza was being transferred into the ambulance at ht9, I suspect I know who it was. Â Next up is Brian Copeland doing rider interviews from the pits. A great filler in the many voids however if the portable mic keeps cutting out FFS give up with it and get it fixed, don't do any more until you know it works. Persevering with it today only served to rile the already pissed off punters. Â Best wishes to Kozza after a nasty crash, a total racing incident where he was injured from the bike flying in behind him. Richard Hall did well to get himself down as quickly as he could. No doubt Kozza's many detracters will be on here shortly spouting forth when they weren't part of another healthy crowd, at the start anyway. Â Plenty needing sorted before the professional moaners arrive next Sunday, 3 hrs 10 mins for a meeting is not on.
Gazc
Wasn't the most slick or professionally run fair today gremlins setting in right from the start and it went downhill from there the interviewing piece from the pits is fine if we can actually hear it but this was also farcical today. Â If you think we are piss*d off spare a thought for the Facenna's the amount off money that they have spent on new starting tapes and they continually are being let down by faulty equipment. Â Best wishes to Kozza was just starting to turn thing's round and if the news on his injury are correct then looks like a season ender for him. thebaron
Am I not liking what I am reading. If Speedway cannot sort its own house out; then there needs to be an independent enquiry into the whole operation of the sport before its too late. This has to take in rider safety as its No1 priority. Â Reading that Wilko has supposedly pulled out the meeting when his only bike blew up ? cannot think that this would have happened back in the day. Remembering when we used to wheel out the track spare at Odsal/Halifax if a rider had no bike. Or perish the thought your team mate lent you his!. I know the expense of these bikes these days might make you reluctant to loan a bike to a team mate. But this is supposed to be what we are A TEAM. Â I hope I am wrong; because I am not there and don't know first hand; but for someone who still actually believes in this sport; its disappointing to have to read it.
SCB
Chris Harris and Joonas Kylmakorpi were both fined on Monday for refusing to ride on a dangerous track (in a meeting that 70 second later was abandoned due to a dangerous track!), so I assume Carl Wilkinson has got a fine too? Â No doubt todays problems are the fault of the EL We all know all speedways ills are confined to the EL Â It's 2015, why is speedway still using tapes?! Lights and transponders, it's the future! tyretrax
Hope the tapes are double checked just before the start, r/r for both sides will make it long enough.

He is handed a microphone and expects it to work. he cannot hear that it isnt working as he's wearing an earpiece. Maybe he shouldnt bother driving down from Dundee at his own expense to help entertain you!!!!
jenga
lights and transponders are the way to go. no more jump starts and proper track records ! the information you can get from a transponder is limitless. fastest time.lap, quickest reaction time, etc and more importantly no more jump starts, rollers, no more FANTASY new track records and no more knicker elastic. elastic bands to start a race, mr S roller must have loved it today. Don't know what these lights and transponders can do for the sport other than remove another piece of tradition. If they can improve the start then so be it, but I and I suspect many others would hate to see the loss of tapes.
