The Interceptor

Recommended Posts

Oh, Phil, you've changed your post!

I thought your first was a little ... provocative.

Anyway, I wonder how long it will be be before real life imitates art.

A drugs arrest at a meeting would even mark a new low point for us.

Even considering our recent descent into farce and ignomy.

Imagine the sort of 'statement' the SCB, BSPA - or god save us - Terry Russell would produce on the matter.

Or the interview NP & KT - our very own Woodward and Bernstein - would have with the felon.

Its just the race day unofficial interceptor apparently not a real one... Made up drama :)

In later episodes he exposes Ben Barker for inpersonating a squeeky dog toy, and middlo for talking sh!te.

Starring Shovlar as Superintendant Jack Meadows, Dak North as a right clip and Richard Lawson as Frank Gallagher.

1 Not a single fan with a programme board

2 The swap was supposed to be between heats 4 & 5 but clearly took place before heat 2

3 Would everyone really ignore a fight in the pits? Plenty of precedents to suggest not

4 With two people on the track the ref would bang on the red light instantaneously - last night the riders carried on while the two actors grappled on the centre green

So which Swindon rider has a drug courier in their pit crew?

I see the show has got pretty poor reviews - not surprised, it was formulaic, clichéd, with paper thin characters.

I think we have to allow for artistic license here on the plus side we had a good advert for the sport on peak time tv ,the jury is out over the programme itself though :D

All this excited chat about speedway being on the telly on a programme I have never heard of...

Then, on the other hand all you seem to get is moans about SKY and the thousands upon thousands of hours they have afforded it for the last 16 years.

People are strange, as the Doors song goes, in that they appreciate things in small amounts but find so much fault when it's scooped up in large dollops.

You will get several posts about a speedway poster on someone's bedroom wall in a certain soap, a two second glimpse, and yet become aloof when speedway in on TV sometimes three times in one week.

Discuss...

What the hell did people expect? It's a cops and robbers TV show that happened to have a tiny bit of speedway in it. To Joe public it didn't matter a jot whether it was correct in every sense . Honestly speedway fans are among the most pedantic out there.

Who cares for details, it was speedway being shown on the beeb. I was there with Brandon for the filming and have to say it was great fun all day. Seeing what goes into 2 minutes of TV is mindbogling. A lot of effort for that short clip. Well done bbc I say

I assume Barbara Horley was refereeing as the referee didn't notice a drug dealer and a (presumably off-duty) policeman having a gun battle on the centre green.

However unrealistic it was, at least it got speedway on the BBC in their prime-time drama slot.

Programme was terrible though. dreadful cringey, cliched dialogue and wooden acting.

Well I'm prepared to give the Show a chance. It was the first Episode and they were introducing new Characters - I think it is a decent idea and will wait and see how it develops before criticising it.

Were I a Critic - my verdict would be Promising but needs to improve.

As for the Speedway - I was just delighted to see it in a Drama. Very good publicity as far as I am concerned.

Well done BBC for that at least.
