You think the track at Warsaw was up to GP standard ?

 

 

Very much so. The postponement was nothing to do with the track. It was caused by weak officials allowing the riders to get their own way because they objected to the green light starts.

 

Just simply watch it again, the track was producing some good racing before the call off

Why oh why hold this behind closed doors? There is precious little Speedway going on this year and I for one would have been interested in watching it. It was so say promoted by Colin Pratt. What's to promote?

exactly, why didn't they open just the old stand , charge a nominal fee and donate it to ben fund

ALL sorts of reasons why BSI (and the Millennium) couldn't and wouldn't allow the public in. It would have meant the stadium employing additional staff, various health and safety elements, insurance issues, and, of course, if the track hadn't been right it would have turned sour.

 

However, as explained earlier, for the track to be homologated and to cover the riders' insurance the meeting had to have a licence, in this case issued by the SCB, and a licenced promoter, which is where Colin Pratt stepped in.

Looks like no musical interlude at the gp....hope for all our sakes that theres more music played between heats etc to get the crowd involved. Bit of a lull last yr. Really looking forward to this

ARE you sure there wasn't music between heats last year? I'm often stuck down in the pits where you cannot hear much but thought there was...

I don't want to be accused of being negative, I'm trying to be helpful.

But, no, last year there were quite long periods of complete silence throughout the meeting from the PA.

Quite eerie at times.

So unlike the 'classic' years which gave the event it's name.

 

If you have the ear of anyone at BSI it is an area they could really 'ramp up' from 2014.

Philip, slightly changing the subject-is anyone from BSI in Riga this weekend checking out the Challenge semi ?

NO but spoke to Tony Steele on Tuesday and he is going. He (and I for that matter, promoter Vladimir was at Kings Lynn with Latvian team) been told that track has been completely relaid but TS fears it is still sand based.

The sudden diligence is commendable, but why wasn't it done last year? And if a sand-based track is known to be a problem, then why was this not flagged previously?

However Humph, after last years debacle with many fans dissatisfied with the sudden move to Daugavpils strange that someone from BSI isn`t going to take a look first-hand at the 1st meaningful meeting at the track since, especially if in 2016 the Latvian round is back in Riga-after all out Saturday-back Sunday would hardly break the bank !!!!

BSI has run a World Team competition, right up to world final stage, whilst finding it quite reasonable to do so with absolutely zero reserve provision for injury

In a Speedway meeting of all things.

 

Any one who regards that as a reasonable cost cutting measure may very well view a few budget airline trips to Latvia as being an expense they can avoid quite happily.

There's possibly no-one at BSI who has a clue what a decent track should look like. They've largely relied on Ole Olsen until now.

IT is up to the FIM to homologate and deem a track's condition (referee, Jury President, etc) not BSI. HA's comment is made in his usual cynical tone but actually he is right.

 

BSI don't need a rep there ... Tony Steele will tell them all they need to know and hopefully it won't rain as it did there last year which was the primary cause for the meeting to be abandoned.

Slighly different in Cardiff this week though Philip- BSI are obviously interested in that track !!! (FIM said nothing to do with us guv !!!).
