It was caused by weak officials allowing the riders to get their own way because they objected to the green light starts. There is precious little Speedway going on this year and I for one would have been interested in watching it. It was so say promoted by Colin Pratt. It would have meant the stadium employing additional staff, various health and safety elements, insurance issues, and, of course, if the track hadn't been right it would have turned sour. However, as explained earlier, for the track to be homologated and to cover the riders' insurance the meeting had to have a licence, in this case issued by the SCB, and a licenced promoter, which is where Colin Pratt stepped in. 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But, no, last year there were quite long periods of complete silence throughout the meeting from the PA. Quite eerie at times. So unlike the 'classic' years which gave the event it's name. He (and I for that matter, promoter Vladimir was at Kings Lynn with Latvian team) been told that track has been completely relaid but TS fears it is still sand based. BSI has run a World Team competition, right up to world final stage, whilst finding it quite reasonable to do so with absolutely zero reserve provision for injury In a Speedway meeting of all things. Any one who regards that as a reasonable cost cutting measure may very well view a few budget airline trips to Latvia as being an expense they can avoid quite happily. .
