Fromafar
Reduce the Admission Price,Promoters have to stop paying riders money they can't afford,if the riders can't make living they should go off and do something else to supplement their earnings.Speedway is not a full time professional sport nowadays in GB based on attendances, needs to go back to its roots and rebuild .Get rid of 2nd rate foreigners and use young Brits.

There are riders who hold down jobs outside of speedway. Edward Kennett & Steve Boxall are a couple that spring to mind.
Sings4Speedway
Reducing teams to six men would help, but I wouldn't reduce the number of heats, I'm sure there are formulas out there for 15 heats with six men teams. To try and introduce more British riders into the sport I would then add a rule that every team must have a junior team of sorts. The MDL and NJL are excellent starting places for young riders. I would expand that nationwide. A meeting with 15 heats and 6 junior races, 21 in total is a decent night entertainment. Even add a couple of "second half racing" if you like, giving riders a chance to try out equipment or give riders who are struggling more track time. As long as there are no long hold-ups for injuries there should be no reason why you can't fit that into two hours or so. More 2nd half opportunities would certainly help promote new & developing riders into the sport. The travel required for many of the MDL / NJL riders is quite staggering considering it is all done for love / progression. Some clubs embrace the MDL others treat the riders like 2nd half 2nd rate scum. Until we back the brits in terms of track time, sponsorship & opportunities british speedway will continue to decline.

Terrace Grumbler
The Danes have the right idea, 5 man teams, 14 heats Interesting - do you have a link to the heat formula?
Paul Johnson
wasnt "proper second halfs" the fastest riders and 2nd fastest competing in a mini match, hence why times are written down, ? and young up and coming riders having a spin? Fromafar
british only reserves has been tried before and guess what it didnt work jenga has actually been saying this for about 2 years now go back to 13 heats and proper 2nd half's British reserves didn't get the chance work because when Boxall was cleaning up and got a big average, and the BSPA did not know how to deal with it.The rest were just coming along gaining expieriance. So they scrapped it. Interesting - do you have a link to the heat formula? I'm afraid not. I just looked at the Speedway Updates Danish section the riders demands are not going to be met by Promotions who don't have the money so they will be out of a job if a track closes or drops a division which could happen judging on the crowd levels being reported at a number of tracks. Its the riders who will have to look out IMO . I think you are right. The riders have nothing without that clubs, and a lot of clubs are struggling.
StevePark
wasnt "proper second halfs" the fastest riders and 2nd fastest competing in a mini match, hence why times are written down, ? and young up and coming riders having a spin? At Brough Park in the 70's it was Rider of the Night (3 heats - winners and quickest runner-up through to the final), Reserves Race and Stadium Scurry (which often involved the Reserves and/or "second-halfers") which often had 5 riders in it (Red, Blue, White, Yellow/Black, Green). The Rider of the Night also had the visiting Silver Helmet Challenger rider in it, so that he didn't have to travel all the way for just the Silver Helmet Match Races! We had 6 man teams in 1997 (that year only). For some bizarre reason the home side were numbered 1-6 and the away team 7-12!!!
Whiteliner
Quick draft of what it could be like 5 Man Teams 15 heats all riders have 6 rides Home Team Away Team Heat 1 1-5 1-5 Heat 2 3-4 3-4 Heat 3 2-5 2-5 Heat 4 1-3 1-3 Heat 5 2-4 2-4 Heat 6 3-5 3-5 Heat 7 1-4 1-4 Heat 8 2-3 2-3 Heat 9 4-5 4-5 Heat 10 1-2 1-2 Heat 11 4-3 4-3 Heat 12 5-2 5-2 Heat 13 1-4 1-4 Heat 14 2-3 2-3 Heat 15 1-5 1-5 All riders must take a minimum of 4 rides, their other 2 rides can be replaced by any rider with a lower average. Riders injured on the night can be replaced with a rider with a lower average but a replacement rider can only do this once. Just a thought, this could easily be amended to fit into 6 rider teams, with the 6th rider being a reserve, I will do a format for that another time. graeme624
So Nick Morris gets injured guesting for one of Glasgow's rivals Somerset - had to happen sooner or later- and with important fixtures coming up the strain is really getting put on the Tigers. Don't think Swindon will be too happy either. Hope Lawson and the Worralls remain safe this weekend or teams are really going to struggle to field suitable replacements .
