Newcastle V Sheffield League Cup Sunday 31st May 2015

Recommended Posts

Well, we are out of the cup- no shocks there. 'Watching' online, it would seem to have been 'a bad day at the office' for some of our lads. How long before Stevie gets the no1 position back I wonder? Looking forward to reading the comments of those on the terraces when they get back home.

All three of them? The crowd was shocking... There was more people in the pits than on the terraces nearly..

I think that Newcastle have to be very concerned with the result tonight.

Sheffield traditionally don't go well at the Hot Dog Stadium, and to top that off we turn up with one of the bottom of the league's reserves who did not score a point at Newcastle filling in as a Guest in the heatleader role.

This should have been a stroll in the park for the Diamonds, but we got to within 5 points of them and to me that constitutes a result for Sheffield under the circumstances.

Never mind I am sure that the food outlets will have done well.

It would have been if Kerr hadn't had a 'mare. It was only a couple late heats when they unexpectedly made great gates that kept the score decent from a Tigers point of view.

To me, was a bit of a pointless match for Sheffield which is a reason that we didn't bother going. Sounds that the track was tricky even for the Newcastle riders. Sheffield turned up with 2 of their original team yet still got a point...

It was, but it was a great performance even to get the meeting on with all the rain that fell on top of the previous rainfall. Didn't see Josh, Konopka, Birks or Jason complaining about the track though.

Irrespective of to-nights score line, lets please not jump on the team re-shuffle band wagon. Yes the June averages do allow us some lee-way esp. if we drop an injured Rosen, but do we really want last years' scenario yet again.

Sorry totally disagree you have 2.5 points to play with, crowds are drastically down and the team is just not strong enough without or with Rosen.

For me it depends when Rosen is fit enough to return. However with the points available I would drop Neilsen and bring in a rider for him( that is if one's available). That would mean Henry would drop to reserve.

tbf if we leave it as it is we may aswell settle for the lower end of the table, if you look at changes in a positive way, it enabled scunny to win the league a few years ago.

We shouldnt rest on our laurels and accept being also rans if we can do something about it??.

If there are no funds for changes to the Newcastle team, so be it - that everyone has to live within their means is a lesson which, over the years, a number of promoters could have heeded.

When all of the team are fit and have their best bikes with them, we should be able to give most a run for their money at home, although I think only Ludde has the outright speed needed to take on the ten point boys.

Last night's meeting was as poor as the Glasgow meeting was good. With the current standard of riders in the PL and the prevalence of gaters in all teams, it's a crap shoot.

I enjoyed seeing Birks bully Rose last night - good experience for LR, and turned the clock back to the days of Banger.

As I stated earlier - overspend and you lose your Speedway.

I think that the Promoters are doing it the right way to ensure the future of Newcastle Speedway.

i agree, but would it take much more funds to pay a 7 point man what you are currently paying a five point man who was seven point man lol...... If you dont improve the team you are in danger of losing more money by not attracting folk through the turnstyles as more and more matches will become meaningless....last nights crowd was one of the poorest ive seen in many a season... Id rather die trying personally. Edited by Arson fire

League Matches are already pointless. If you win the League - you can then lose it in the Play Offs to a Team finishing SIXTH!!

As we know to our cost........................
