Normski
An excellent meeting tonight with some top drawer racing. Track was perfect tonight IMO. Shame that only Danny ended up with a max. Shame also that now we have to wait til June 11th for the next home match.[/quote ]your lucky us Berwick fans have to wait until June 20th a month without a home meeting. Tsunami
Having had a moan yesterday, credit to whoever prepared the track last night, it offered good entertainment last night, much tougher opposition to come, but promising to see Gino and Ritchie amongst the points, congratulations to Stefan for making it to the Under 21 finals (though it would have been good for his confidence if he had been there last night). The team looked much better with Brian Messenger in charge rather than our rookie manager, pity we can't persuade him to return for the rest of the season. Hope Lasse was not too badly injured, he would be a big miss for his two PL clubs (redcar and his permanent guest role at peterboro). He'll always be 'a rookie manager' unless you give him some experience. Messenger would have been a rookie at some time.
Whiteliner
Hope all you Ipswich fans make the most of those easy points, would be sad to see you lose them because Redcar close before the end of the season. Worst team at Redcar since it opened in 2006, coupled with very poor home gates and no prospect of it getting any better while Havelock and co are trying to run the show. Baldyman
Can you not try to get a fans consortium to try to take it over? Maybe Worth a try?
Whiteliner
Its not the taking over at Redcar thats the problem. Its the current ownership that refuse to let anybody else in, there have been offers made but they just want their money and wont allow anyone else to take over, they offer team sponsorship packages but no other involvement. Ged Rathbone a perfect example, when he tried to buy in he was offered the team sponsor but no role on the board and look what has happened to Peterboro since he went there. The current team sponsor ECCO Finishings has tried for over 2 seasons to get on the board, all to no avail.

No more than 500 was my guess. I hope it can be worked out as what I saw was what could be a great race track. On Thursday it was very slick and dry but the potential for a multi line exciting racing strip was obvious.
Baldyman
When Redcar was first re opened, am I right in thinking it was a great race track with some great racing?
Whiteliner
Yes it was but unfortunately when you want to do things on the cheap, you get what you pay for. Hasnt been a proper track man for years, job seems to go to anyone who can drive a tractor and is willing to do it for nothing. Pretty much the same as everything else at Redcar, train of thought seems to be, why should I pay for it when I can get somebody to do it for nothing. Alan R Horne
Well the score line certainly do not reflect on a super meeting with countless passes almost in every race. Fantastic to see Gino back to form with loads of aggression that's been lacking all season and several passes. In fact one race coming from 15m back to pass their riders was great and the entertainment level on track could not be bettered for us Witches fans. The track was exactly how it should be every week with passing taking place all through the meeting. So a great thank you to all involved for a smashing meeting, really enjoyed my £16 worth.
spanner47
The team looked much better with Brian Messenger in charge rather than our rookie manager, pity we can't persuade him to return for the rest of the season. What's with this constant sniping over our new manager. All he has control over is switching the reserves, and choosing 2 riders for heat 15, B M had absolutely nothing to do with the way the team rode on Saturday night. Phil has got his selections spot on for heat 15 all season, a couple on here have suggested (with hindsight) a couple of reserve switches he could have made, but with our current reserves form, that's easier said than done, you don't know what you're going to get with those 2, one race they look very good, the next they cock up. Phil, if you read this nonsense on here don't take any notice, the comments from some on here aren't reflected on the terraces, well certainly not with the ones I stand with. As I've said on here many times, when Wolves are near the top, they tell us what a great Manager Peter Adams is, but when they're near the bottom they don't say he's crap. It's all about the riders!!!

It's all about the riders!!! Unbelievably the poor sod was being labelled "Useless" by one particular poster on here after his very first meeting!! I've said many many times that it's easy from here to say that reserve should have had an extra ride and replaced this or that rider in this or that heat but those saying that are not in the thick of the action or know exactly what is going on. A few on here were pointing the finger that Covatti didn't get full 7 rides when he was reserve earlier in the season which could have cost the team points. But it came to light soon after that Covatti was having ignition problems late in that meeting and couldn't take that 7th ride. Being a keyboard team manager is the easiest job in the world!!
2ndbendbeerhut
Reserve #1 has 1 point and Reserve #2 has paid 7. reserve #2 wants to be in the heat and confident of adding to an earlier heat win. Who goes in heat 14?

Who goes in heat 14? Sorry mate, just been through a load of meetings and cant find the one that you're on about. I've found one where Stefan had only 1 point and was replaced, but please point me in the right direction. I assume the meeting was still in the balance or you wouldn't have mentioned it. Who goes in heat 14? Depends on if the meeting has already been decided, how the reserve #2 didn't score in his other two rides, whether reserve #1 has a working bike, etc. It's not aways apparent what goes on in the pits. Newcastle away.... Hawkins even mentioned it in his column in the Ipswich Star that he was shocked not to be in heat 14 I'll do another..... Reserve #1 has 4 points from 4 rides but has just crashed in last race after struggling with track Reserve #2 has 5 +1 from his 4 rides...including a pass in his last heat.. Who gets 14? Reserve #1 gets the heat but crashes again in same place..... Edited June 1, 2015 by 2ndbendbeerhut

As for the Newcastle meeting, apart from the reserve race, looked like they both had bad meetings. Edited June 1, 2015 by spanner47

The Newcastle away meeting Ritchie had run 2 bad lasts and although Stefan had scored just 1 point he also had,had an ef whileleading heat 2.......As it happens,he dived under Christian Henry who had 9 paid 10 at the time causing shock to Henry who then fell.......paving the way for a King,Covatti 4-2in heat 15 ...thus his vital point won us a point...How was that a bad decision......As to the decision against Berwick.....He kept Nielsen in and he fell while in 2nd place...a tie winning 2nd place..........Not sure you can blame Phil for that to be fair
