racers and royals
Please tell me, how getting a promoter for this is good? And note that I'm talking of A Promoter. A deal has been made. That usually means that some specifics have been sold to a specific fee. I'm VERY interested to know what EXACTLY has been sold. Presumably this is a FIM deal, as against FIM Europe which Onesport have had their deals with previously. Doesn`t answer your question but is an interesting development. SCB
Guess that will likely mean the U21s being on TV next year then!

But what does this mean? What has Emil, Piotr and (not sure) Darcy have in common? Has the FIM been forced now to do something about this? racers and royals
Statement on Onesport SEC website - When three years ago we started the project SEC we knew that it would not be an easy task. It was all difficult, but productive time. There were many ups and downs, but we managed to fill most of assumptions. Therefore, we want to continue to develop the European Championships. For this reason, we negotiated with FIM Europe on the renewal of the contract. Today we can officially say that we signed a contract until 2025, including it. - began Jan Konikiewicz, One Sport. The formula of the tournament remains unchanged and all the details about the next year series will be given at a later date. We wanted to thank the President of FIM Europe, Wolfgang Srb for professionalism, favour, so we can continue on our project. - We are proud to announce that the Individual European Championships will remain in the hands of One Sport. Over the last three years, the event has gained incredible prestige, the best speedway riders take part in it, which of course is good for the development of this sport. New locations, millionth audience in front of television screens meant that we decided to trust One Sport once again and sign a contract for another 10 years - said Wolfgang Srb, the President of FIM Europe. Next the organizers have prepared a surprise for all fans. Since 2016 One Sport in collaboration with FIM will cover the patronage of the two new projects. - In 2016, for the first time history, Individual World Championships U21 will gain promoter. The series will be held in the format of three events per year on a similar basis as SEC. We intend to continue the exploration of new markets and lead to a situation where the championships U21 will be broadcast live to many countries around the world. - said Karol Lejman, One Sport. However, this is not the only surprise prepared by FIM and One Sport. - World Championships U21 is not the only new project in which we will engage. Starting from the next season we will also be promoters of World Cup 250, which will be organized on the occasion of one of the finals of SEC each year. Although the agreement has not been signed yet but all the details have been agreed and in the next few weeks it will come to its initialling – said Karol Lejman. At the end FIM Track Racing Director Armando Castagna spoke - Over the last few years we observed the development of projects under the auspices of One Sport and FIM Europe. We decided to extend cooperation and propose to acquire new projects, this time together with FIM. We are convinced that all the events will be organized at the highest level, and our cooperation with One Sport will be long and successful

iris123
Think it is great that One Sport are taking on junior meetings and not just trying to take on major money making meetings. They get a lot of flak, but someone told me ayera or so back that BSI seem to be in it for the money whilst One Sport are in it for the fans and the sport. This would seem to back that up imo

Yes, but if OneSport is trying to market the event, will there not be demands to increase the number of rounds?
racers and royals
Am I right in thinking that the " world cup 250 " mentioned by One sport is the U 16 youth comp ??
DutchGrasstrack
U21 will be held over 3 rounds... just like this year. Perfect if you ask me. Edited June 22, 2015 by DutchGrasstrack
SCB
Yes, but if OneSport is trying to market the event, will there not be demands to increase the number of rounds? Maybe it's just time British speedway stopped being greedy and expecting 5 race nights and moved to Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri. With GPs, GP qualifiers, SWC, Euros, U21 GPs, U21 qualifiers, U21 Euros, U21 SWC etc there not a lot of spare Saturdays left.

So private companies are free to organise this championship and that in prime weekend slots, and the leagues actually paying the salaries have to play second fiddle? DutchGrasstrack
You have no clue.... the FIM and FIM Europe meetings have existed for years and provide the riders extra valuable experience as well. One Sport is stepping in and taking speedway league to the next level. What does British speedway do? Yeah giving the riders a headache because of there crazy race schedule. No other country does it like the UK...
