Taylorj
Well think that's my final year for the pairs if it's still at Somerset. Over 2000 people , 6/7 ladies toilets, 30min wait for a drink, food, the loo. Centre green announcer making it the Somerset show (yet again) . Let's hope it gets moved to a neutral track maybe the new Bellevue, a bit like the farce that is the PL Fours, 5-6hours to run a meeting , ends up the Peterborough show. They took it from Workington for the that reason (which I do agree with) . Let's hope somebody sees bloody sense next year !!!!

A top drawer race meeting, which was well run by the referee with the 2mins time allowance used very sensibly to eliminate any "messing about" by riders.

As for the announcer and it becoming the Somerset show, it's always this way. Somerset have always had one of the most biased announcers, to the point he used to announce race winners before the referee! On the food front, I see your point, I was going to get something to eat there but saw the queue and waited until after the meeting. But then as pointed out, the actual speedway its self was top drawer.

Najjer
The food queue was horrendous - I skipped it also after getting there an hour before start time and the queue being about a mile long and showing no signs of reducing any time soon.
Cliffeboy
Back to the meeting which was as usual very good. I was standing with two lads from Belle Vue who told me it was their first visit to the OTA to see if the racing was as good as most people say and also to have a look at Brady Kurtz. On both accounts they were impressed especially with the racing where most races were keenly contested. Lots of riders had their moments namely Robbo, Bjerre, Ulrich, MPT, Doolan, and Howarth , with Masters Kurtz and King top bananas. Kurtz tussle with Bjerre in heat18 had the belle Vue lads jumping up and down. Shame the GP was pants the next day..........

Cliffeboy
Not a mention of Nick Morris , the best rider on show Oooops sorry Paulco definitely agree Nick was great as well although I think King probably shaded top rider. Somerset is a great track for "Buffalo Girl" moves its a great track for most moves.
Triple.H.
Never been disappointed with the racing on any of my visits. Really makes a dimwit like myself wonder why a current EL team didn't use Somerset or Scunthorpe as a base template for their track and then built there stadium around it. I reckon they'd get massive crowds with that kind of track. Lets hope the new Belle Vue is as good as Chris Morton was saying it will be on monday night.
Mike.Butler
When any track that normally caters for less than 1,000 has 2,500 present there is bound to be a strain on things like food outlets. Take your own food next time to avoid disappointment! The fact that there was some damn good racing is rather more important i'd have thought. What you say is true but in the past they used to have extra food and drink outlets during the pairs. It felt like they have gone for the cheap option now and I'll definitely think twice before returning to the pairs.

Satnav stated 2hrs driving from home, it took 3.5 hrs. because of numerous traffic delays.
SCB
Also agree. 90 minutes at least to get there, nearer 45 to get home. Shame. Ride on a Saturday and I'd be there quite often.

They could have portable toilets (Burnham Portable Toilet Hire, across the road. ) and a couple of burger vans. I don't think the owners would be happy if we all took in our own food and drink. O.K. the track and racing are good but they get the gig so they should cater for the big crowd.

About the same for me. I go most weeks when work allows. Racing never disappoints.
