Premier League Pairs Somerset 03/07/15

Does anyone have any idea what averages get used for this event?

Is it the averages effective from 01/06/15, that are stated on the BSPA website?

Will Sheffield be allowed to use Simon Stead's average?

Answers on the back of a postcard.

In previous years its been the cumulative total of the top 3 riders of each team that count towards qualification. 10 teams qualify and 3 miss out. I assume the averages used will be those effective from 01/07/15, released later this month. Not sure about Simon Stead's average, I doubt it will be used.

I was there that night and IMO there were 2 correct calls that could have been made. One was the call the ref made on the night and the 2nd was all 4 back in the basis that the incident started on the 1st bend. Either one would have been correct.

I was referring mostly to sight of supporters (not just Somerset supporters) leaving in their droves before the final, all live on TV. That and the fact that Sky were left with a damp squib instead of a thrilling climax to what had been, up to then, a good hard fought meeting.

yeah this is where speedway is daft... I thought it was the correct decision but i spoiled it as a spectacle really.

It deflated the meeting all right. The joint was jumping right up to the moment the exclusion light came on.

But.....

It was, in all honesty the right and only call --- the alternative would have been to exclude the Edinburgh rider, but would have affected the meeting in exactly the same way.

So...

Can anybody suggest a different method of deciding the semis and the final which would prevent a recurrance?

Such is sport. In football, you have grounds almost empty before the final whistle goes if the home team is taking a drubbing.

That's life. What would be wrong would be if the referee was influenced. If he feels a rider should be excluded, then that's his call.

All the best

Rob

You can't script sport. Everybody would every meeting to be a last heat decider, every game to be decided by a last minute winner, but sport isn't like that.

Seen a lot of football games spoilt by a sending off. The game goes on.

With two groups there has to be a final at least. The two semi's could be scrapped and the top team from each group faces each other over three heats perhaps, top scoring team from those heats takes the title.

Rye may actually qualify for this for a change. Eddie and NBJ could do quite well too.
