Kings Lynn V Poole 28/05/15

Recommended Posts

Ditto everyone. The Stars were underdogs tonight but they showed true character to win against the Champions Elect (again). Sam Masters was a great guest for his mate and the Stars. Was chuffed for Ash and Nicklas to get amongst the points tonight, hope this is their turning point Rob was Rob tonight, he revelled in the heavier track conditions Lewis made a good comeback from injury Need to see Niels back to his oh so dominant self at Lynn, gotta be equipment?

Perhaps I'm getting less patient in my old age but I wouldn't go to Kings Lynn again after my visit a few weeks ago as I can't be doing with all these delays. I don't know how the Stars fans put up with it.

What's the alternative? It's not a huge issue really, time to read the prog, have a natter etc, no worries. Best Wishes from Ms Laid Back of Norfolk lol

Read a few of the pages on here that list the issues that put people off going to speedway. One of the ones almost always mentioned is unnecessary delay. People go to speedway meetings to watch speedway.

So it is a huge issue - in fact, its more than that.

Why not start the meeting at 8pm and do away with the interval ?

Can't help the sun is in the riders eyes! Riders safety is most important! Who cares about couple of delays as long as riders are safe!

Of course the Chapmans can't control the sun but that isn't the issue. Why is this just a recent problem? Why doesn't the official start time get changed? Why don't they put up a huge hoarding to block the worst of the sun? Answer - they don't give a flying fig for their customers - if they did they would take some action!

Putting up a huge hoarding would cost a fortune and then what happens if it's windy and fell down into the crowd. This has been happening for years stop moaning and just enjoy the night talking to people. Typical Brits always got something to bloody moan at. If he did a hoarding I'm sure you would all have something else to moan about!! Rant over 😂

I really don't think hoarding is realistic in any way, the main problem is leaving the fourth bend where according to the riders it goes from relative darkness to bright sunshine. To block that out you are talking about an unfeasibly high structure, it just ain't gonna happen. I'd imagine it wasn't a problem in the past because rider's attitudes were different, I expect they just got on with it and probably used tinted goggles. Why can't they do that now?

The promotion can however have the finger pointed at them for unnecessary intervals and putting refreshment & bar sales ahead of people getting home at a reasonable time.

Think we'l be happy with a point, but you have to wonder why both Davey and Kcaper didn't do well on a track where i would have said both would score well.

I'd suggest that if your promotion is happy with taking just a point from a track you generally ride as well as your own against a side missing two of its heat leaders then their ambition is some way below where it should be. Edited by Gordon Bennett

Exactly. I would imagine that the promotion as well as the fans thought this was going to be a 4pt away win and definitely didn't see a TR bring needed. This was the best chance Poole would of had at King's Lynn Against a team without their heat leaders and Porsing out of form. Know I would be more concerned than disappointed.

As per usual you haven't got a clue. Buster Chapman, as a promoter, does more to promote the sport than most. His continuous improvements to the Stadium puts everyone to shame, and you come out with comments like that.

Its unfortunate that surrounding areas have changed and building and trees have been demolished. The Sun, at this time of year is relatively low and causes an issue. To put up a huge hoarding as you suggest would be ridiculous, in both cost and height. To erect something in the Pit area to cut out the offending sun glare, the hoarding would need to be 200 ft tall. Imagine going to the planner with that......... To me it's not that big a problem and come July and August the Sun will be higher and shouldn't be a issue..... Also come the play-offs in Autumn, the Sun will have gone and we will start on time... :t:

Wow !! .....What a surprise that was. Expecting far more from Poole and was amazed on how the Stars rallied to the occasion. I will admit Masters did far better than I imagined and I was wrong to doubt his inclusion. It was another of those meetings where all the riders pulled together and each played their part. Recent performances of some were put to bed, and hopefully they will continue to perform at this expected level.

With the exception of 2 riders, Poole were disappointing. They appeared nonchalant and not ready when the meeting started. It was only towards to end when the chips were down did they show up. Without the efforts from Magic and Nobby this could have been an embarrassment.

Hope Rory's collection went well, and that his recovery goes as hoped.

Time to read the programme...King's Lynn have pretensions of being a big team with perhaps the poorest EL programme in the lead. Not as good as some NL tracks, sad to say.

King's Lynn really do need to up their game all round.

lol lol you ought to have seen last year's one, this is 100% better than that! In Buster's defence he did say he would rather put money into other more important things than an all singing all dancing programme. Not sure if programmes pay for themselves or not, not in our case it sounds .....

Albert Pierrepoint is alive and well. Thank You Poole. They never let you down.

What a massive performance from The Stars. When the going gets tough and all that. Poole were lucky to scrape a point an inform NKI and they would have been toost.

The big question is who will make way for God to return ? Rumour has it Middlo is plumping up the pillows already.

Apart from the delay as already discussed, this was an enjoyable meeting. Track seemed really grippy early on and it caught a few riders out. Good to see Ashley on the pace, still not convinced with Porsing.

Was it just me or was the presentation much better with a different man on the microphone?

YES!!!!! For whatever reason Kevin was on the mic last night please ask him to do it for the rest of the season, he was a hundred times better than Matt.Matt may be the man for the stocks but not speedway!!!!

And one late night a week won't hurt you or the kids 😂😉

Lynn ain't the only track that has this problem! Think fans making a bigger deal out of it then they should if they didn't have the interval it would be finished sooner

Indeed. In fact this can be a problem at Swindon sometimes, with the sun getting low over bends 3 and 4 at certain times of the year.

Even on Tuesday they announced that they were going to wait a couple of minutes as the sun was just setting and making it difficult to see.

It never caused a major delay, but I have known meetings in the past where they've had to wait for the sun to disappear.

Folk should be thankful the sun is shining and it is not tossing it down with rain !!!! All part and parcel of the sport. Rather wait a little while than see a race where the sun blinded a rider and it caused an accident and possibly have to wait longer...........

WHAT A MEETING.

Best one of the year for me, in front of a decent size crowd too. A lot of talk about people staying away due to the 'weakened team' but it didn't look like it.

A few fans from Poole too which is always nice to see as well.

Not much you can do about the Sun really, a giant adrian flux advertising hoarding maybe?

So happy with how the everyone stepped up tonight, some really great speedway and some really tough first corners too which Niels and Nicklas both were on the wrong end of but carried on battling none the less.

Porsing looked on the pace last night which was good to see.

The sun issue i don't think is too much of a issue at Kings Lynn to me, the industrial units at the back of the stadium block some so it doesn't take that long for it to go down behind these units, it started a bit late and there was a delay but for me the main problem is they then had a interval which was not needed. At Leicester it is a much bigger problem as there is no industrial units to block some of the sun so you have to wait until the sun has gone down completely which on monday took over an hour!!

I've been at Leicester when there's a sun delay and there really isn't much you can do. Just have a beer, and have a chat to fellow speedway fans which isn't all that bad!

Back to last night, I was glad to see Morris buzzing after his first race win in what seemed like ages. He'll get time and support at our place which can only benefit young riders.

And the roar when Lambert dived up the inside of 2012 World Champion Chris Holder was awesome : )
