stevebrum
About the only way they will get to the final!! Unlike last year you mean LOL
g13webb
It has anyways been a mystery to me why they get such poor crowds at the EOES. Its not just Speedway mate, its every sport in the area. Posh FC suffer the same problem. Even when top teams visited London Road, it makes little difference. I've been told Ice Hockey is just the same. Over the years the city has become multi cultured and they don't appear to put themselves out. Whether its because they have a problem with mixing I don't know. Don't know what their missing............ :t:

stevebrum
With Sky there will be interesting to see if there is a delay waiting for the sun, It's happened it the recent past World Cups at Lynn, so what's different?
Halifaxtiger
To see the meeting start was delayed till 8pm due to the sun, delayed again after 4 heats had passed for the same reason THEN see there was the usual interval after heat 10 really made my blood boil. And you weren't even there !! I think you should regret not going personally as it was a decent meeting with good racing in almost every heat, it was a bit annoying they had an interval but i think that was mainly for Rory's collection which i hope they got a substantial amount for him, we tend to forget sometimes what risks these guys take. I got told by one of the riders that they offered to do it during the sun break.
semion
It's a business. It gives Buster the chance to sell more food and drink, Plus the fans to have a look at the merchandise on sale with Jaybea. Also the track and medical staff to have a cuppa and a toilet break. Is it any difference to break to treat an injured rider ?

Is it any difference to break to treat an injured rider ? Not good for business if it puts folk off attending again tho. As for track and medical staff having a break, any medic is used to eating (and anything else lol) on the move occasionally. Injury breaks are understandable but if you have young children or early start at work extra breaks are a pain in the proverbial.
semion
SL I think the fan base at speedway is now down to the hardcore. Most will put up with anything. You only have to look at the state of Speedway in general. There is so much wrong it's difficult to know where to start, yet that hardcore still turn up. The casual fans will still rock whenever there is a star attraction or fixture in Town

The casual fans will still rock whenever there is a star attraction or fixture in Town Its true to suggest that some tracks seem to be run on that basis and its the sort of complacency that has left the sport on its knees. I would have thought that the lesson that speedway could have learned from the last decade or so is that fans will not put up with anything and will just stop going. I know one Kings Lynn fan that I thought was an absolute diehard and was shocked to find that now they are anything but. Delays are a disaster but, in some cases, are unavoidable. Intervals are not.
em1500uk
And you weren't even there !! Exactly LOL! I wasn't! I just thought of everyone up there just hanging around waiting for something to happen. I just despaired when I looked at the updates. The interval after heat 10 or whatever is fair enough...so long as there's not been an extremely lengthy delay beforehand. It just annoys people and it's not ideal for families I'm sure. Trees
So having a bloody interval puts people off going to speedway ...... jesus, fickle or what!!!!
semion
Speedway is a great product, it just seems a total lack of knowledge/ability to market it in the correct manner. Now if someone with that knowledge/ability could grab hold of it, then wow. I was looking at the highlights of the 1981 FA Cup final this morning and watching the marching band leave the pitch. Compare that with the total razzmatazz that went on before the start of 2015 final in Saturday.
Star Lady
So having a bloody interval puts people off going to speedway ...... jesus, fickle or what!!!! On it's own it's probably not a deal breaker, add in all the other irritations (for want of a better word) and folk will vote with their feet. You know that from twitter the other night. 10 years ago I doubt you or anyone else that knew me would imagine I would not be a regular at Lynn, but it's happened. Strangely my love for the sport has been rekindled somewhat but at P/Boro and watching Lynn away. I understand a few things improved at Lynn last week and if and when the clown in the centre disappears I might give it. Try until then there's no chance. Too many things that annoy me without putting up with his inane uttering so all night. Maybe see you on Weds
mrss
Yes Trees having an interval does put people off going to speedway. My nephew who was a postman at the time used to go to Lnn every home meeting but stopped going because it was so late finishing. He has changed jobs now but doesn't go now because he is out of the speedway habit.

semion
I would guess they ranged from 40-100 notes. How much were they in 1981 ?

semion
I wouldn't disagree Skids. People moan about paying 17/18 notes for Elite ( I use the term loosely) League but have no problem, it seems, paying £35/40 for a Cardiff Grand Prix
