Kings Lynn V Poole 28/05/15

Recommended Posts

Has Matt Ford had a sudden change of heart. I remember him calling off the meeting against Lakeside when he just had Shamak missing as he didn't want to rob the paying public yet twice this week they have ridden against a heavily depleted Leicester, tonight they are racing against a depleted King's Lynn and then Monday a bees team with no number 1 or guest available. Surely some of these fixtures should be rearranged for the sake of the paying public?

That was not down to 'robbing the public' that was down to the fact we had re-declared the team spent around £15,000 on getting THJ and Shamek over and they both got injured. If Matt had reverted back to the original line up and run the meeting he would have been unable to fit both back in duo to average increases therefore losing alot of money.

If the rules allowed like for like guests at the time the meeting would have gone ahead no problem. In this situation I'm sure if KL asked Matt to call the meeting off he would not have a problem at all about doing that.

Yes we are but perhaps a better guest may have helped you, there are no other EL teams riding tonight why cant they get a better guest. R/R for Bjerre is ok as neils gets a extra ride.

Seriously R/R is ok for Bjerre all becasuse Niels can take an extra ride c'mon be serious. That leaves Lambert,Porsing and Masters to take the others. Now if Niels could take 3 rides maybe so.

Be honest Poole have absolutely everything in their favour tonight and must be looking at taking all 4 points against a mainly PL side.

On about guests every team has struggled to get guests this season, even Poole they have replaced Janowski on a couple of occasions with Lawson. No comparison there.

Why oh why is speedway in such a mess.

Nobody disputed the reasons why, The rules were in place for everyone, and to cancel a meeting because of poor team strength, is against those rules. It was Matt Ford's manipulation of these rules to suit his purpose, that angered people. He appears to be a law unto himself and does what he wants......

You are disputing the reason though! this wasn't about team strength at all at the time!!! we could have reverted back for 1 meeting, but had we done that the team average would have increased and the riders invested in would not be able to come into the team.

So you are saying if you spent £15,000 of your own money but had nothing to show for it you would be happy with that?

The club could not control injuries in europe, if the rules at the time allowed a guest for a rider that had not ridden for the club yet the meeting would have gone ahead. This does not happen very often but I'm sure it will do again in the future.

I don't think anyone (outside of Dorset) would give a monkey if Matt Ford lost £15,000 to be honest.

The difference with King's Lynn is that there was never a thought to cancel tonight's meeting.

He has guested for so many of our own teams over the last 18 months that you would hope a collection is organised at every EL track. He deserves it.

Top post mate, is ther a link for a donation ? My next visit to Lynn will be the SWC, but will gladly give now if thers a link

I believe the reasons for that match to be cancelled was described as 'robbing the public' by fielding a makeshift team. Everyone knew the real reason why..... as you rightly say the replacement riders had been injured, before they were used.

But the actual excuse stated, could be used on so many occasions , involving any of the teams, and that would cause endless problems in fixture arranging. So for that reason alone, the excuse shouldn't have been recognised. I am in no doubt if someone else tried to pull the same stunt they would be jumped on, big time.......

It is down to ethics. (No not the one just outside London with Chelmsford as it capital) Some Promotions will do anything to win a Speedway fixture. Buster will stretch it so far, but there is a line we wont cross. ( cough Edinburgh)

Football matches in Premier League, Football League or any other League are not called off or cancelled because X,Y, and Z players are injured.

I'm afraid this is how league titles are won and lost through injuries all part and parcel of most team sports.

Why do people always compare to football etc. There is no comparison whatsoever. To start with in football there are squads, more money.

When we are talking about injuries you can compare it to other sports. Injuries doesn't help any side in any sport. We do need a squad system to help with things like this but even then Kings Lynn would be weaker, it's just the nature of sport. At least you could call the riders your own if they are contracted to your club.

The Trouble with a squad system is can you really expect riders to be set up with £x amount of equipment in the UK doing nothing ? These guys are self-employed. No ride No pay. Footballers have contracts where they get a salary whether or not they play, injured or just out of form. Big Big difference

So no comparison to football then.

You should be more worried about the King's Lynn track this season: it is causing people to stay away.

But isn't good old Buster the best in the business, surely this can't be right, Nah, its a figment of your imagination

No idea what your on about but yes ppl would stay away MAYBE if the track was as bad as you think, but Lynn's track is still better than most even on a bad day!

What would definitely deter fans though is watching their depleted team losing and/or struggling every wee k because the promotion didnt attempt to strengthen!

Hopefully after tonight's almost inevitable loss to Poole something will be done...and quick!

You really don't have a clue.He can prepare a nice smooth track, not dangerous to riders even after stock cars have ripped up the track.Unlike the debacle you see at some tracks with ruts and holes etc :approve:

Luck always follows bloody Poole!

Think you mean 'Coventry'!!

Rode at Poole and won when Janowski and Watt were injured, Rode at Wolverhampton and won when Lindgren and Karlsson were missing, and rode against Kings Lynn at home and won with Schlein and Bjerre injured!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't get much luckier than that!!!! No wonder their top of the league!!!!!!!!
