Bream
Btw. did anyone else notice resonance chamber in Emil´s exhaust header pipe during SEC race in Kumla?

Bream
That little tin-can aka. Helmholtz resonator, on top of the pipe. Can be the next "thing" in the circle racing. Mostly used to bring down noise levels but also improves engine output. Part, Im interested in, is the ability to change exhaust gas pulsating frequency to more homogeneus flow. Saw one or two of these used last year at the FIM meeting at Leicester, can't remember who had um, Mikkel Bech possibly, it was the U21 round of the.........?? SCB
Kildemand and Kenneth Hansen use them for a start. Noticed them on a few bikes recently.

sommelier
Having watched Harris at Kings Lynn & Coventry last night, NEVER seen a bike react so fast, imagine that in lesser hands!!!
Bream
4 points from 2 heats for Harris on GTR. Going smooth and fast. Allowed him to do some mistakes and even then he was able to take second place on the second heat. ..and messes rest of the meeting with poor lines. I hope someone else gets a chance with Marcel´s engine. Edited August 29, 2015 by Bream
OveFundinFan
That engine seemed to be doing better tonight, but as you sy, it would be nice to see a top rider on it.

Countershaftcounter
Be nice to see some offered to young up and coming riders too to try out, after all, they are the future.
foamfence
Be nice to see some offered to young up and coming riders too to try out, after all, they are the future. Well Robert Lambert had the loan of one, what is really needed is a couple of top riders to start using them, that would soon see the demand soar. Harris (whose shortcomings were exposed last night) and the ageing Karlsson, won't persuade potential buyers but a couple of riders winning things around Europe will. Shale Searcher
The minute you give it to a top rider, they'll have it in bits, throw half away, and modify what's left to squeeze another couple of horses out of it!! (Well, their tuner will) That's not what the project is about in my opinion.........?

They won't if they are under the control of Marcel, he isn't just going to hand one over and let someone do as they wish with it, that's why they still have their own equipment alongside, It's just that Chris has created a bad reputation regarding engines and PK is on his last legs so to speak, it needs someone with more credibility. Yep agree, would love to see a young up & coming rider like Brady Kurtz on one!

PK last legs wash your mouth out no IMO he is well placed still able to test and give excellent feedback a wealth of experience just a pity Tai ( would he be ceditible enough)can't get onboard rather than plugging his blood sucking tuner on the GP last night . OveFundinFan
To develop an engine you need experience, and that is there with CH and PK. Once development gets to a certain stage you need top riders to show what it can do - thats if you marketing to top riders. If you marketing to PL or NL standard on the basis of lower servicing costs then go for top riders in those classes. I think it would be difficult to get the likes of Tai, Greg, Nicki on board a Gerrard engine whilst they still going for top positions. Bruiser McHuge
It depends what the engine's long term intentions are......if it aims to be a budget engine that riders can use over a season in the league without too much service and maintenance then that is not going to be an attraction to a GP rider chasing the major honours as they are never going to ride an engine like that. That's why I don't think a young rider like Robert Lambert is the way to go for the Gerhard as he is chasing his goals and really needs engines on a level playing field with the top GP guys and not a still being developed budget engine...that's surely not the target rider at present. I don't think they could have a better test rider than Peter Karlsson though, he's been there and done that and has great knowledge and should really help develop the engine on a day in day out basis and once properly tested it surely must have a future with the everyday riders racing day in day out league speedway where savings must be a major attraction .......the very top end of the sport is a different matter altogether. PHILIPRISING
GTR are aiming both for an engine that is competitive at the highest level and also much cheaper to maintain for riders no matter where they ride. Still work being done to improve but another GP rider likely to give it a private test this week with a view to using it in the series. Chris Harris has actually been rather fortunate ... has five engines to use and no service bills as they are still being adapted by Marcel.
