SCB
Did anyone notice Bombers engine in his last ride last night? He was using the new engine from tuner Marcel Gerhard.

SCB
Agreed. Scored a point on it and I thought he looked reasonably fast considering it's the engines first competitive action.

Daniel Smith
Is Tatum involved with the development ? Talking of engine's, whatever happened to Ash Tech engine ? AshTech is just a tuner, not an engine
sommelier
AshTech is just a tuner, not an engine Emil was testing it a couple of years ago!
SCB
SCB. has Marcel got a website anywhere about the new engine. Not from what I can see. The best place to look is Kelvins Twitter as someone has already posted.

PHILIPRISING
THERE will be a full report on the new engine in SS shortly. Designed by Marcel Gerhard, Kelvin Tatum has had a massive input, and being built by Sutec AG in Switzerland. Obviously created a lot of interest in the Marketa pits over the weekend. In essence, the aim is to be as competitive as GMs but to run for around 20 hours between services. That's a lot of races. Compare this with Jarek Hampel GMs which, he said, do just 15 heats. But it is not an engine specifically aimed at the top echelon of riders. Far from it. It will come fully built, not in kit form like a GM. The potential scale of economies available to bread and butter riders is quite significant.

Could make a massive difference for NL and PL standard riders.

weatherwatcher
Iy sounds like the new engine could easily become a firm favorite with riders in the PL and NL who have to run on a tight budget. If this is priced corectly, they could easilt take a lot of trade from the other companies that are making engines al be it that Jawa have now lost a lot of trade to GM With all the testing being done, the engine should at least be a reliable and practicle offering to the speedway world. robolots
To be honest I hope it is not a "budget" engine but a serious competitor for GM. The only rider I know at anywhere near International standard on Jawa at the moment is Smolinski. Although I applaud the thinking behind an engine that can last longer between servicing, if it isn't fast enough then no one will want it whether National League, Premier League or Tiddlywinks League. If more engines come on board that are direct competition for GM then it will create a better and competitive market place. Having an essentially one series engine is no good for any motorsport in the long run, unless you are basing that motorsport on already production based vehicles.
SCB
Let's be honest, Bomber used it in ine race in a GP abd nobody would have said the bike he was on was any lesser a bike/engine than his other rides. Just because the target isn't a top class engine doesn't mean it won't happen
weatherwatcher
From what I saw of Bomber race, the engine certainly had the speed, if he had not nearly hit the rider in front, I think you would have seen a better idea of what it could do. Hope to see more of it, to get a better idea of what it has to offer. It looks like it could well be used in the PL or NL if the price is right and may even be used in the higher leagues. Just needs to prove that it can compete with GM. Only time will tell. But things seem to be going well for it.

PHILIPRISING
IT has to be competitive and both reliable and durable because that is where the savings will kick in not with the up front price, although as stated it will come ready built and not in kit form.
