Glasgow Tigers V Newcastle Diamonds Pl Sun 24th May 2015 @3pm

Recommended Posts

Well after the usual bright and sunny weather for most of the week , the hope is that the raingod takes a day off on Sunday and graciously allows us some speedway .

The Diamonds are the visitors and they seem to be struggling a bit lately . Easily brushed aside at Berwick last Saturday and Smugged last Sunday .

The boast young Lewis Kerr at number 1 , decent when he gates , and ex-Smug Stevie Worrall . They will both trouble us , but after that it's anybodies guess . The lesser Lindgren has been poor at Ashfield in the past and Christian Henry seems to be going through a rough patch of form . I'm assuming Rosen is still injured and it will be r/r at 2 and young reserve Lewis Rose is also struggling for points and appears to be going through a crisis of confidence at present . They used guest reserves last weekend , so who knows if Neilsen will be riding or not .

We will be itching to get back into action after a catalogue of rain offs either side of our TV spectacular .

So fingers crossed we get this on and start putting points on the board to climb up the league table , which has it's usual disjointed appearance at the moment .

He might be on holiday, so someone has to take the mantle ;-)

He is on holiday, and mentioned it in a post last week.

Errrr, can I not have a holiday then :t: You must all miss my opening posts!! Ha nah I thought not. Just came back from Dubrovnik in Croatia. It was great temperatures low to middle 20s centrigrade ish, just hot enough to lie around in the sun but too hot to walk any distances came back to Newcastle airport and 9 degrees brrrr :o My holiday has knackered me so I won't be driving up to Glasgie.

Ok I missed our trip up the A1 to Berwick and our homematch against the Monarchs. So I escaped watching two defeats.

At Glasgow Newcastle need all riders to hit their averages at least.

  • Steve Worrall is our in form leader at present
  • Lewis Kerr will back up Steve on the score chart
  • Anton Rosen R/R - I think Anton will be close to a comeback but he should get "signed off" for a home match
  • Ludvig Lindgren capable of winning odd races! Sorry Ludde!! You are my fave of all our team but sometimes you ride like a wuss mate
  • Christian Henry having a few problems lately
  • Simon Neilsen is he fit? If not a guest will fill the slot
  • Lewis Rose a rider with talent but struggling a bit this season

My forecast is for Newcastle to win the match and Ludde to top score!! Yeah well its what I would like to read after the match. BUT..I hope the Diamonds entertain the Glasgow fans regardless of the result.

Ehhh Glaswegians, you may just recognise the photo/avitar against my name "Dantodan" . The photo is of me in front of a 1929 Douglas Speedway Bike. The photo was taken about 10 years ago at your transport museum when i was up in glasgow

Don't think Lewi Kerr is riding, but awaiting confirmation

Ah Steve, I hope Lewi is fit enough. He is so important to our line up

They found that he's got a slight fracture in/on his hip. He Tweeted earlier in the week (Wednesday I think) that he'd miss the British Semi at King's Lynn and hoped to be back next week.

Just checked the BBC and Accuweather for Cashfield tomorrow and slight difference in forecasts.

Hope Bring Back Clarkson is the more accurate!

Cloudy but no wet stuff.

Everything crossed.

A not too difficult meeting for Glasgow on a bitterly cold afternoon. Steve Worrall was arguably one of the best visitors to Ashfield this season but got little back up. Lindgren was ok and Rose got a first and second either side of two zeros.

Jim Sarjeant was excellent for Glasgow, as was Lawson until blowing another engine crossing the line unbeaten in ht13 and not re-appearing in ht15. Hopefully we are good for at least a point tomorrow at NCL and that Morris makes the 2 minutes in ht1, unforegivable in your first ride!

At last we managed to get some speedway in without rain although it is still freezing for the time off year pretty uneventful meeting if truth be told not the worst i have seen but pretty mundane stuff.

Although there can't be a team that throw's so many silly point's away more than us all credit to Newcastle for keeping it close but really and i mean no dis-respect to the Diamonds if we had been up against a team with more top end firepower we could have been in trouble today.

It really must be a worry to the management as it is to us on the poor form shown by Kozza at the minute i hope he can turn thing's round sooner rather than later but it is another win in the bag as we continue to play catch up and well done to Rich on his paid max looked to have sorted the mechanical issues he has had until the bike went pop again in Heat 13.

Unforgivable - unbelievable too I think. Especially Heat One.
