New Science
Well done to Wolves for updating the latest team news on their site. Although after all those changes don't think I would still be billing it as a "blockbuster bank holiday of speedway" as they are.
Wolfsbane
You have GOT to be kidding me!!!! Lasse Bjerre??? As a heat leader??????? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hadn't bothered reading the thread but because of Lewis's injury thought I would check the lot. BW, Adams is really trying to give you a myocardial infarction isn't he Well done to Wolves for updating the latest team news on their site. Although after all those changes don't think I would still be billing it as a "blockbuster bank holiday of speedway" as they are. ...with a bumper crowd I can just here it now. Lewis : 'Hello Chris, I can't make tonight, hurt myself at Peterborough' CVS : 'For crying out aloud, this meeting is already a joke. Do me a favour Lewis, just pop and ask Matt if he will guest for you before you go to hospital, I can't be arsed with ringing round'. bigcatdiary
I disagree completely. The opposite is the case. i.e. Elite League fixtures need to be on different days to Premier League fixtures. Bank Holidays is however a problem whatever the format whilst riders are doubling up/down. I agree, just share the BH out between the two leagues
KevtheRev
I was really impressed with Jacobson this afternoon and even more Kasper Lykke , who rode much better than Boxhall and Kus.
krompa
What is going on with Adam Ellis? I used to rate him as a good prospect, especially on tight, technical tracks like Lakeside or Wolves. Tonight he lost twice with Matt Williamsson!

R87
One or two decent races tonight, but it was hard to get enthused about a meeting with effectively a premier league side.
FAST GATER
Paid max for PK there is a certain irony as it's against L/side what a difference a year makes
Countershaftcounter
That sponsorship with FLYMO is not doing him any favors... I know someone who's involved with him, and sponsorship is what's needed. Maybe if he'd have played on the French part of his upbringing, promotors would have given him some of the help they seem to throw at foreigners.

Is it these slow engines that make him ride out of control on a consistent basis? I've lost count of how many times I've seen him leading races and lose it.. stevebrum
One or two decent races tonight, but it was hard to get enthused about a meeting with effectively a premier league side. One or 2? More than that. Great night of racing with the odd few processional heats. The crowd was better than I expected and the groans when the actual line up was announced just goes to show that plenty hadn't read any updates! Whilst the result was never in doubt the racing belied the differences in strengths and certainly they were not just showing up and going thru the motions (well not unless your name is Matej Kus). Not sure if any lakeside fans made the trip but at least Mikkel and Stevie made plenty of effort. WOLVES FRED - good to have fast Freddie back although he had to play 2nd best to Bech twice. 3.5/5 JACOB - earned a Heat 15 call up and made some stunning passes. Shame he missed out on his maximum but this was a superb performance from our young Swede. 4.5/5 MOTM LASSE - decent enough effort but only really beat Kus, Ostergaard and Jacobsen. 2.5/5 RICKY - lost out once to Bech but otherwise a good night's work. 4.5/5 PK - made a couple of stunning passes but was in a class of his own. 5/5 MATT - probably the worst draft guest we could get for one of the best HOWEVER he gave it 110% and beat both Hammers reserves with great effort. More than happy to admit I was wrong to think he would get at least 3 duck eggs. 4/5 JOSH - rode well for his points when on paper we had the weakest reserves. 3.5/5. HAMMERS RR - scored 8 points and would have expected more. JACOBSEN - got better with each ride. Definetly impressed on his first showing. Expected him to get a Heat 15 pick. 2.5/5 Bech - did his club proud with some excellent battling skills and speed. 3.5/5 Ostergaard - beat Williamson so no idea why he was picked for the last heat. 1/5 Kus - dire. But in fairness didn't have an easy heat. 0/5 Ellis - 1 ride apart was beyond dire. Should have been in double figures at reserve. 0.5/5 Boxall - won both reserve heats , job done. 2.5/5 Back in the top 4, onwards and upwards. speedwaysliders
Looks like Kennett has now declared himself fit to ride this friday against Belle Vue after x rays revealed no broken bones in his hand after his last heat fall at rye house when his engine blew
T.N.T.
Well for a pretty poor match up of talent and a one sided meeting, there was some good races in this one but overall it was an easy three points for Wolves and could have been embarrassing had Lewis Blackbird not been injured and Mikkel Bech had not been in fine form. Jacob Thorssell and Peter Karlsson had some good races with wins from the back while Bates, Wells and Bjerre all gained points from passes. Bech made each of his races entertaining and this was by far his best showing around Monmore Green and after a poor heat one, Nicolai Busk Jacobsen was impressive in his other rides and nearly passed Ricky Wells late on and should have been given the heat 15 ride. Ostergaard may have only scored 3 points but fought hard in a number of races and had to be passed a few times and at reserve it was Steve Boxall that impressed with good wins in both reserve races from the gate. Last year Wolves had to take a poor line up to Swindon just as Lakeside did hear and while there may be some races this is not an Elite League meeting and while I understand the cost of cancelling such mis matches, the sport can't continue to put out meeings like this as it's like Man Utd playing in the same league as Hednesford Town. The Elite League has to either be dropped or made to be just that ..... ELITE. Get the 8 EL tracks, 13 PL tracks and Cradley Heath to compete in one big division split into two groups of 11 and all set to the same points limit giving them all ten home meetings. These ride on any night apart from Mondays. The 8 EL tracks that want to do EL still then use the top 5 from their standard team and bring in two riders from a selection of four to ride in the EL matches. This gives them another 7 home meetings. Then the other 14 tracks compete in two groups divided by North and South (unlike the big league) giving them another 6 home meetings and they also compete in the KO Cup competition. This means a progression for riders as riders like Jason Garrity, Steve Worrall, Lewis Blackbird etc can ride in EL matches as reserves or second strings for the same track that they will be competing in the PL as heat leaders / second strings. WOLVES (EXAMPLE) Tai Woffinden Piotr Pawlicki Fredrik Lindgren Peter Karlsson Ricky Wells Jacob Thorssell Nicolai Klindt Lewis Blackbird Josh Bates Ashley Morris Matt Williamson It can happen and all teams currently in the EL would put on 7 Monday meetings in the EL if Sky asked them to ..... so no excuses for track availability. Woffinden, Pawlicki, Kasprzak, Kildemand etc would be more likely to ride here each week if they had just 14 meetings (or less) and maybe even get appearances from Pedersen, Sayfutdinov, Hampel etc ..... maybe even Jonsson !!! Nutz
Why when you've got a perfectly good product at Premier League level, would it need to be sacrificed to cover the ridiculous failings of the not-so-Elite league?

Aces51
Bit of a puzzle then why that supposedly perfectly good product is also failing to bring in the crowds.
stevebrum
So all PL tracks are making money or at the very least breaking even are they? Good point, they aren't. Some are so blinkered when it comes to believing it's only the EL struggles with crowds/finance.
T.N.T.
Why when you've got a perfectly good product at Premier League level, would it need to be sacrificed to cover the ridiculous failings of the not-so-Elite league? It doesn't but it's highly unlikely any track would want a 21-24 meeting season of league meetings with the British weather killing a number of weeks for everyone. Build all teams to the same level and then let some enter an EL (with star riders) and the others a Premier Trophy event and KO Cup and the sport would be much better equipped to move forward and should they want to build an international team, a strong but small Elite League season would test the likes of Jason Garrity or Kyle Howarth much more than it does now. Perhaps unlike you some people have the interests of the whole of British speedway at heart. Do Turkey's vote for Christmas ? British Speedway has long since needed an Independant board to report to that over looks the rules and running of the leagues and clubs PS; I know it's 24 hours late but I would like to say GET WELL SOON AJ as it was good to see him beating quality riders in the GP on Saturday and really looked forward to seeing him ride at Monmore having already missed the first meeting. It was a shame he had to miss this one too and it's a shame he is so ill that it is unlikely he would have ridden yesterday in Sweden (scoring 9+1) and unlikely to ride in Lakeside's next (possibly all) remaining meetings. Get Well Soon AJ !! Edited May 27, 2015 by T.N.T.
