Rye House V Workington Comets 17-5-2015

Recommended Posts

Good win today against a poor Workington side. Nicolaj is worth the entry on his own.

Wouldn't call it a good win against half a Workington side , it really wasn't gona be anything else was it . Good luck in the next round Rye House , see you for the PL meeting , hoping to make the trip down again this season :)

would you travel to workington with your number1 missing, your number5 missing and a couple of 6.50 men = 3.3 pointers in your team.. na thought not. is this the same nbj that finished last in heat 15 ?

anyhow lets not go down that argument route. team with thehighest points wins , other one , loses. simple..

would like to have gone, but my washing machine is broken..

Rye can't help the circumstances that Workington had.. They had a job to do though and certainly done it! There was some good races today... track held up ok but was still dusty near the end of the meeting!

I have traveled to Workington in the last couple of years and we have taken some beatings. It was not a fair contest today by far. I would much rather of seen Workington at full strength. Unfortunately I don't make the rules. Last year Workington came to rye and won, we had Nathan greaves that day at no3 under the same rules !!

When I saw the Workington line up there was no way we wren't going through to the next round. Apart from Ricky Wells coming to life after the track had dried out it was pretty lacklustre from the Comets. Some decent racing with Edward, Kasper and Nicolaj catching the eye. Pleased to see Dan getting four rides and some valuable confidence with a couple of good rides.

Lots of early watering and grading between the early heats, but the track dried out towards the end and so did the entertainment, but it wasn't as dusty as the updater on Speedway Updates commented, not from where I was watching on the home straight terrace.

Strong wind blowing down the straights towards the pits bend. I guess that's where the texter was viewing the match from.

Took far too long to get the meeting going after the interval, track dried out too quickly due to the strong wind. Track staff were not resdy to resume straight away as Len demolished the starting tapes with the tractor .

Decent first half of the meeting before track dried out. Last bank holiday was much worse regarding dust. Pointless interval as not enough water was put down so had dried out again by heat 8/9.

Jackobsen is a real find and will be pushing for top of the league averages next season. Very much reminds of Sundstrom. A season of settling and learning the tracks and then talent will show through. Lykke is a different rider as well nowadays. A real trump card at reserve.

Still a feeling that this side is short of something to challenge at the top end of the league.

Nikolaj definitely has a bit of Linus about him, if anything he's progressed a little more at the same stage... Will be a difficult decision next year with two 8+ average riders, that is if the Dane isn't sold off

No reason we couldn't accommodate both. Too soon to be thinking about next year though.

Could someone who was at this meeting confirm from a programme (not from updates or other websites) who came first in heat 5 please? Workington's website and updates say Aspegren, but the SCB report and Rye's website say Mellgren.
