Guests,how Long

Recommended Posts

a straightforward question, following the nasty accident to Simon Stead and all the other goings on,how long can Sheffield use a guest to replace Simon,is it all season,or is there a time limit,I know they got 28 days grace for Procter, just wondered how is was for Steady?

And technically, they should have no facility for Proctor.

Surely that's covered by Reg. 16.5.2 that allows the BSPA Management Committee to grant a 28-day facility at its discretion?

Sheffield might be idiots in signing a rider that knew potentially couldn't do the whole season, but idiocy has never prevented the granting of a facility before.

16.5.2 just says that if rider is declared in a team you can have a facility for him - eg you sign a rider in February but he break his arm practicing in March then you can have a facility for a month but only because injury is listed in 16.5.1 (the list of reasons an facility is allowed)

You keep saying this

can I ask you where you have got the full facts of this case from, who is your source?

just so we can all be as certain as you whos fault it is and therefore why a facility shouldn't be granted

Refer above.

If Sheffield got written exemption from ukvi from the visa criteria then its not their fault. The absence of an appeal indicates this is not the case.

Therefore it seems the fault is Sheffield.

Don't see how u can think differently,?

I'm not sure that's how I read the regulation. However, the catch-all is normally 'rider withholding their services'..

A rider without a work permit is not withholding his services! Quite the opposite!

Rule 16.5.2 doesn't say you can have a facility for a rider without a work permit.

To give an example to the original question, years ago Stoke signed Neville Tatum on an 11 point average at the start of the season. He rode 1 meeting, got injured, didn't race for us again and we had our pick of guests for the season. Best signing we ever made ;)

Blimey, what year was that ?.....when did Neville Tatum ever warrant an 11 point average !

Did Neville ever has a short spell in the EL? It's not impossible that at the end of one season he got 5.5 from 6 meetings in the EL in the late 90s.

That's what I recall. Think he might have been with Eastbourne.
