Wolves V King's Lynn Monday 18th May

Recommended Posts

I think from seeing him last Wednesday and on Saturday, as well as last night's updates, he just isn't getting out of the gate at the moment. It's such a huge part of speedway that if you are struggling in that regard your points totals will reflect it.

Ok I've actually looked up all metting this season: I make it that out of 39 EL mathces, HL have been the main factor in determing the winner in 16 meetings, 2nd strings in 10.5 and reservces in 12.5 matches. So pretty even split, you'd expect HL to be the key factor in more than either of the other categories given that a) they generalyl have extra rides in ht 15 and B) there are 3 of them per team. Reserves the key factor in around 1/3 matches, but less often the deciiding factor than HL.

In 42 meetings involving Elite lge teams this year, only 8 have been won by the team whose reserves were outscored. The Aces appear to be involved in a few of those 8 meetings... :D

Wet track undoubtedly helped the visiting Stars. With no Fred and an out of sorts Blackbird, it was a good time to race Wolves it seems.

Worrall as well, what a guest booking. Bravo Rob and Buster.

4 away points are always welcome though, in any circumstances.

Niels seems to be very hit and miss at the moment. Form, Equipement or the injury playing him up again. Anyone got any insight into that one ?

Maybe the situation at Gorzow is affecting him? From them being 2014 Champions to starting the season with 4 consecutive defeats, well it would seem that the pressure is on over in Poland.

That said, when we needed him last night, he banged in a big heat 13 win to clinch an away win for us.

Wolves have started their predicted slide down the table

What predicted slide? We started 4th and are still 4th. You mean predicted by just you perhaps, are you still 6th by the way? PMSFL

this meeting should not off taken place

Why not? The track got better as the meeting wore on. Well done to the riders for giving it a go instead if using their default setting of a call off at the slight drop of rain. A nice rarity.

Because in years gone by they would not have stayed at reserve all season, and did not have protected rides. That's the big difference...

And main teamers used to drop Down meaning they had a strong reserve all year.

It was atrocious on the track and the riders did their best. Stars are a strong team Lambert best young British rider by a country mile. Wolves will be back don't you worry about that. It was a lottery and Stars came out on top. ☺☺☺☺

Wolves track is always one of the trickiest . even in the dry. in the wet probably more so...... At least the riders were giving it a go....

Just pleased that non of the riders were injured..

In case you didn't see Wolves were predicted by most to finish at the bottom of the EL this year so the fact that you are currently in 4th - that equates to a predicted slide! Swindon are still 6th, 2 points behind Wolves and 2 matches in hand so I don't know what you have to laugh about. It's the finishing positions that are important and that laugh will come back and bite you in the derrière.

Yes I saw those predictions and I'm still laughing at them.

Like you say finishing positions are the only thing that is important but the prediction of finishing bottom is something I will probably still be laughing at come October.

In less biased news Swindon with Kildemand look a much better proposition than what they started with. Just gotta win those matches in hand that you brag about tho.

I think it was you that was bragging about being in 4th position (something you have been doing for a while now). I merely made a factual statement about matches in hand - which we all know doesn't necessarily mean points on the table.

I think you need to calm down until the end of the season as I said.

I think it was you banging on and on about how rubbish we are this season (something you have been doing for a while now), perhaps wait till the end of the season to brag you were right.

Time will tell if we fall away or not. However anyone with a brain would say that so far we are the surprise packets of the EL so far. I'll take that thanks.

Not so.

Anyone with knowledge would know we were built as a side strong at home, particularly strong in the early stages of the season with PK at second string.

We picked up an at the time surprise win away at Lakeside, who some thought were going to be ultra strong at home. That win has since been dampened by other teams also going there and winning.

Last nights home defeat now means we won't be getting close to the playoffs without at least another away win (assuming remain unbeaten from now at home). I can't see where that win would come from. The injury situation has now made the situation worse.

It's going to be a long season from here on in.

Time will tell. You make your luck along the way and that in turn gives belief.

Considering we were mass written off pre season we have had our moments so far.

Injuries can wreck anyone's season so until both Fred and Tobby are back we have to pick what we can.

Play offs are a mile away for everyone, although Cov seem to be doing all the hard work early on.

Like you rightly say, picking up points on the road including away wins will see us in the mix. Time will tell if we manage to pick up more points on our travels.

I find it funny Wolves and Swindon fans (only really one of each) arguing over who is best/worse. Neither of you will be top 4 come September so it's pretty irrelevant.

That comment likewise is rather irrelevant. Time will tell.
