Wolfsbane
I demand to see Lewis Kerr's sicknote! Tough night for all concerned, good win for KL.
Bagpuss
We certainly gained through having Worrall at reserve and I always think a wet track hinders the home side more so will recognise our good fortune and take the four points. Very pleasing to score 50 on the road with our number one only scoring five of them. Not sure what Puk's issues are at the moment but I'm sure he'll sort them just as Kenneth appears to have done. tellboy
Good result for Lynn on the road.Think as Bagpuss said the wet track may indeed have helped Lynn and of course the superb haul from Worrall. The reserves were the difference just like the last time we were down there. Now,just to get Mads in for Porsing and I thnk that would make Lynn serious contenders for the play-off final.

stevebrum
its PUK and Rooboy who are a bit out of sorts. PUK yes roo boy made the difference when it mattered. All teams are relying on reserves. I bet more often than not the highest scoring reserve has been on the winning team in 2015 than not.Why do people talk about reserves being the difference like a new phenomenon?its been this way for years, even well before we had excellent young foreigners on ridiculously low and false 4 point assessed averages. its nothing new folks. -------------------------------------------------- The result I predicted and expected. Given we had 2 guests and on paper king was stronger than Tobby then it was looking more hopeful than first feared. However having guests is never the same as your own riders but step forward the Bomber who really gave us his all plus being the one who sprinted across the dog track with 30 seconds to go to correct yet another 2 blue helmets mistake. The 2nd time this year is frankly pathetic. Bomber possibly scored what Freddie might have done so he didn't weaken us too much . Thanks Bomber for caring. The stars showed the potential they possess and came up trumps with booking Worrall. Well done to the Stars on the big 4 pointer even allowing Niels to have a meeting he looked completely disinterested in. A long long cold night and no points to show made it a very tough and tortuous evening. WOLVES - BOMBER - gave it 110% couldn't ask for much more. 3.5/5 MOTM JACOB - finished with a great win from the gate over 2 of the Stars top 2 but was finding it tough before. 3.5/5 KING - no real gain as far as points go and besides one decent ride was largely a bit part player 1.5/5 RICKY - very average night although conditions perhaps halted his points scoring chances. Good determined ride in heat 14. 2.5/5 PK - didn't look interested from the off but added a couple of vital wins mid way thru that kept us involved 2.5/5 LEWIS - a rather poor meeting and in truth didn't deserve 5 rides, was outscored by the better reserve on the night.1/5 JOSH - excellent heat 2 win and managed to at least stay on his bike in both reserves heats -something his supposed superior couldn't manage 2/5. STARS Iversen - heat 13 apart looked like he couldn't be bothered 1.5/5 Lambert - besides his final race was great value as expected 3.5/5 Schlein - nothing to shout about till the last 2 races when he duly delivered 3/5 Porsing - excellent first heat then disappeared 1.5/5 Bjerre - good showing even tho he faded as the meeting went on. Stars fans will no doubt be delighted with his score. 3.5/5 Morris - outscored Wolves better reserve which says it all. 2.5/5 Worrall - superb choice of guest. Won them the 4 points 4.5/5 Edited May 18, 2015 by stevebrum
BluPanther
Why do people talk about reserves being the difference like a new phenomenon? its been this way for years, even well before we had excellent young foreigners on ridiculously low and false 4 point assessed averages. its nothing new folks. Because in years gone by they would not have stayed at reserve all season, and did not have protected rides. That's the big difference...
waiheke1
Small sample size, but looking at wolves home matches this season reserves have been the main factor in determining victors in 2 matches and 2nd strings main factor in three matches. waiheke1
Sums up the Elite Lge these days in alot of meetings. Reserves dictate results more than heat leaders these days... Ok I've actually looked up all metting this season: I make it that out of 39 EL mathces, HL have been the main factor in determing the winner in 16 meetings, 2nd strings in 10.5 and reservces in 12.5 matches. So pretty even split, you'd expect HL to be the key factor in more than either of the other categories given that a) they generalyl have extra rides in ht 15 and there are 3 of them per team. Reserves the key factor in around 1/3 matches, but less often the deciiding factor than HL.
Crazy robin
the reserves have really made the difference in this. off night for Blackbird They do in every meeting anyway but a great night for Steve.
Steve0
Not surprised that KL won or with the scoreline. KL have a good team (Porsing excepted) and should easily make the play-offs and then they will need to peak against Coventry, Poole and one other(still to be determined). If they peak at the right time, KL are a match for any team. Wolves have started their predicted slide down the table - can't really blame Bomber and it seems Blackbird had a rare off night. There are many riders who don't go well in poor conditions (Swindon *cough* ) so that probably was a factor in the size of win.
T.N.T.
WORRA LLOT OF MUD Wolverhampton lost their unbeaten home record due to a number of reasons but the main reason was the guest booking of Steve Worrall at reserve who was dominant in the wet conditions and fast from the gate. Even when he did tail off in his last race, it was all over. The referee had a bad meeting with Heat 3 being the start of it. Danny King gated alongside Rory Schlein and they were side by side in the first turn and going wide. They touched a few times and eventually this sent King into the air fence on turn two but without hesitation the red light came on and King was excluded. Shocking call. A few other falls then took place on turn one and all four back each time, including Ashley Morris in heat 12 but he was exiting turn two and fell on his own and was given a second chance which was taken with a 5-1 which ended the Wolves hopes now being 8 down with three heats to go. Bomber had more falls than a Grand National field but as usual was up and ready to go again but in heat 11 he had passed Schlein and was after Bjerre but caught a bump going into turn one and again ended up in the bouncy castle but as Jacob was leading he quickly got his bike off the track. These two heats were the heats it was clear Wolves were on Mission Impossible. Bomber rode with determination as always and deserved more points and less drama while Ricky had a good battle in heat 6 passing Iversen but in thje whole wasn't liking the conditions and Jacob had a average night until heat 11 when he easily beat Bjerre and Schlein in the heat Bomber fell. Overall Kings Lynn were sharper out of the gates and provided the race winner in 10 of the 15 heats and along with Worrall, they had Robert Lambert in excellent form while Kenneth Bjerre was fast from the gates in his opening heats but as the track got on he was left trailing while Iversen only looked like a GP star after the second spell of rain at heat 10. Lewis Blackbird was unlucky to be called back in heat 12 but apart from that he was way off and Josh Bates won heat 2 well and was caught up in a few first bend incidents and although he only gained one more point, he deserved his fourth ride and remember he finished ahead of Lewis twice when Lewis fell both times at the back. Wolves losing at home.. so lets give our weaker fast track rider all his rides again.
g13webb
Obviously pleased with the result. I always believed the Stars were capable of getting some reward, but it always depends on what happens on the night. Guests, although not liked are a necessity in our league and last night was no different. Before the start, I didn't think Wolves were weakened by their included guests of Bomber and King, I imagined they would score similar to their missing riders. Worrall and the other hand, I thought would struggle competing with Kerr's score. So before hand I thought the guests were in Wolves' favour, but I was still optimistic. The biggest single factor last night was the weather. It changes the perception of home advantage and produces a more level playing field. In situations like this, it is imperative to make good starts. Once behind and filled in, you have no chance. Many results were decided by the back straight. Whether you are a top liner, or reserve rider it becomes very difficult to compete from behind. On a good night with decent weather this meeting would have been entirely different. The scores would be a lot closer, and certain riders would have performed better. But at the end of the day the Lynn Stars did what they had to do. The conditions were bad for both teams but it was Lynn who mastered them better and deserved their victory..... Just please all the riders survived the dreadful conditions and all of them went home safe.....
Bagpuss
GRW123, why did you think that Worrall would struggle to match Kerr's score out of interest? Going on current PL form and the fact that SW spent a season riding for Cradley I thought there was always a good chance he would score heavily and probably do more than Lewi might have. Although I think he was made to look even better by Wolves reserves riding poorly in wet conditions.I think Lewis Kerr would have also scored very well. ShropWolf
Fair play kings Lynn got what they deserved for their efforts. Weather and conditions took away our home advantage some of our riders really struggled. Things can only get better. ☺☺☺

Going on current PL form and the fact that SW spent a season riding for Cradley I thought there was always a good chance he would score heavily and probably do more than Lewi might have. These past few weeks Kerr's performances have really come to the fore. The exceptional gater he is, Lewis was always going to be key of any reward we may achieve at Wolves, especially against good FTR in Blackbird and Bates. To me losing Lewis was a massive blow and only a few could be considered for covering him. Newman and Garrity were the obvious choices before Worrall, but hey it all turned out well in the end. As it happened Worrall was an inspired choice and contributed to a wonderful win. Scoring the points he did, more than made up for Niels, below par showing.......
