Redcar V Workington Pl 7:30pm

I don't even mind losing as long as I feel entertained.

But tonight has annoyed a lot of the crowd that had remained. And with a 2 week break till the next meeting I can see that being a very sparse crowd indeed.

What a shambles.

Track was obviously substandard before the meeting started and the 4 heats that took place confirmed it.

The crowd knew that the meeting would never go 15 heats and its anyone's guess how many more supporters we have lost because of this latest debacle.

I seriously wonder if we'll even see the season out.

It's so disappointing because things could be so much better but it'll take more than cosmetic surgery to fix these problems.

I didn't even win the 50/50 draw!

At least there's no meeting next week.....up to now!

Just posted this on updates site:

Hi

Thanks to updater for making sense of my texts with weird words coming from predictive texting!! I understand he had some technical issues getting updates on - it wasn't as drawn out as it may have appeared - but it was close.

Still don't know what caused the problem, it was obvious from entering the arena that work was ongoing and a small blade was scraping dirt off, then the big blade came out and set to on bends 3/4 - As I texted no announcement at all was made until 7.25, however as riders were not changed it didn't take a genius to work out we were delayed.

Once we got going imo some riders seemed fine (Howarth, Wells, Bjerre, Robson) others hadn't a clue (Roynon) and others were obviously not happy (Kus, Bach)- reserves just got round best they could - we then had to wait while ref looked at track, went back to pits, came out and looked at track, went back to pits and again it was obvious a number of riders were putting their point forward = eventually it was announced track had deteriorated!! and Meeting off

Total Shambles - On behalf of all Redcar fans I would like to apologise to those visiting us for the farce they had to endure, make the most of the apology because its unlikely any other will be forthcoming!!!

Which riders did not want to ride the track Redcar or Workington or both

From observations I think it was a mix - certainly body language suggested Kus and Bach were not happy and others aswell.

just want to add - that isn't meant in any way as a dig at Kus & Bach

I don't think any riders really wanted to carry on.

Despite significant track grading before the meeting the tractors were out after 2nd heat, I think because of riders requests.

I don't blame any of them for not wanting to continue if they believe their safety is compromised and I imagine the majority of the crowd was sympathetic to their decision.

However they won't be as sympathetic to the promotors.....there was a lot of ill feeling mixed wth despondency and air of "the end is nigh" hanging around the track

Shame, and we were winning as well??

Not going to look good on Redcar, dry conditions and still couldn't get the track right to race on, dont understand this excuse, "track conditions" what were the conditions, too much dirt, over watered, ruts, too grippy, just plain dangerous, what??

Judging by some of the comments here, I dont think Comets will want this match replayed anytime soon, if Redcar do go under before the season's out then the pts we get, if any, would be expunged, could be a wait and see moment this but a sad day for Redcar if it ever happens!!

having a look at previous meeting times for 4 laps held at Redcar this year. there is no big difference in racing times recorded at last nights meeting. they are still within 1 second of normal racing time and some are quicker than previous lap times. but riders safety is the most important thing. brain haveagonot should hand his promoters licence over and give it to some one who could breath life back into Redcar speedway. what about Pearson and Tatum ? they talk the talk naa , better not. sorry for travelling fans and home supporters , nothing said on the pa and little response from the guy that matters..

Jeez, Jenga! You almost gave me a heart attack then! I misread your suggestion of Tatum (as in Kelvin) as being Tattum (as in Dave)! And the last person you would want promoting your local speedway club is Tattum! - Ask almost anyone who is unfortunate enough to have Stoke as their local track!
