Sheffo's Proctor Out!

Recommended Posts

Could be similarities to Somerset/ Brady Kurtz situation last season when they claimed they were told.

So that makes it even worse then as lessons haven't been learnt.

This is important stuff, why don't these people get things in writing as any normal business would do?

Too many times in the recent past promoters have eagerly jumped on an apparent easing of a regulation, without question, when they really should have been investigating, to the nth degree, whether that really was the situation. Surely everyone knows by now that averages, for the purposes of regulation, are rolling GSAs without bonus points.

When they removed bonus points they dropped the work permit figure from 8 to 7. Can't have it both ways.

This not how I recall it. You usually know your stuff but I am pretty sure it went from 7 with bonus to 7 without bonus. I remember being concerned how it would affect Cameron Woodward who was in our team at the time.

It may well have been 8 with bonus some time earlier.

I thought the same as you when it was discussed on here recently and I'm sure it was agreed it all changed at the same time - about 2001ish.

In the Premier League they are not paid for bonus points as from last season, the Promoters took the decision that they were not going to pay for them.

Mind you it was said that Ipswich decided to go against the ruling and paid their riders.

As do Berwick,I'm led to believe

Whoever is to blame, its a crying shame that a talented rider is banned from the Premier League when we don't have enough riders to fill all the teams, & we have rubbish foreigners like Konopka Pallavora & Barrett still racing here on sub 4 point averages.

my thoughts echoed there PP, and we are asking what can be done to attract new spectators? events like this does the sport no credibility at all.

Sigh.

It's got nothing to do with the sports 'credibility'.

Speedway isn't above the laws of the UK.

so what about the other sports where lesser known sportsmen can come over and take the money? there are plenty of unknown aussies, kiwis, and south Africans in Yorkshire for the summer taking money for playing cricket.

They meet the rules in place.

Proctor does not.

It's simple.

Why?

Are you claiming that speedway is the only sport that competitors have to abide by immigration/visa rules?

no im not and you appear to be an expert from your previous comment, I am keen to know what the rules are, simply asking a question as I do believe speedway is getting short changed as opposed to cricket on the visa ruling.

Which is irrelevant to your original post that it does speedways credibility no good.

it is amazing (if it is the case) that both team and rider didnt clearly understand the position....

as someone who deals with border agencies, they are very pro active in providing advice and (when asked),make it crystal clear as to the current status re anyone who is on a 'right to work permit'...

as individual circumstances often change you do need to review each case constantly (I sign off each individual once a month) just to ensure that I dont get fined for employing someone who isnt allowed here anymore and they clearly understand their current status and what any future impacts holds for them..

sadly "I didnt know, I wasnt informed correctly" doesnt cut any mustard with Border Agencies as the onus is clearly on the 'employer/sponsor and employee' to ensure all is correct...

lets hope that all others now are clear as to where they currently sit in the process...

it certainly looks like a learning curve for the promoters, and they look like they need to get up to speed a lot quicker than they are...

maybe when you run a sport with the ongoing "ahhh, but this is speedway" as your usual mantra when you constantly make up rules as you go along, it then actually takes some getting used to when no room is allowed for such nonsense??

I have my own employment law expert for my company, does the BSPA not have the same as a collective?

BWitcher, do you know the criteria to qualify to play County Cricket in this country ?

BWitcher is not the one who brought it up.Someone said there are loads of them here. BWitcher asked who. It's normally quite reasonable when you make a claim to be able to back it up, not make others disprove you. Other wise you end up looking like someone who make ludicrous claims without any justification of substance to them.

Arson Fire has provided a link.

However it's completely irrelevant.

The point is, cricket will have criteria. If players meet it, they can play, if they don't, they won't.

The same applies to all other sports and indeed businesses.

What the criteria is and the strictness of it is not relevant.
