Sheffo's Proctor Out!

Recommended Posts

Of course, a high profile speedway rider is much more easy to trace and keep tabs on than someone working at a carwash, a restaurant, a sweatshop or taking old ladies to the ATM to withdraw her life savings for having her driveway weeded.

However, as SCB informs us, all of the warnings were there, but appear to have gone unheeded.

But, what do Sheffield have to do to keep a full strength team going, one cannot help but feel sorry for them?

The issue is that Proctor (Davies and Smith) all got work permits they didn't deserve. Thats where this all went wrong. the UKV&I tried to show some leniency and now people are complaining, had they not give them the permits in March people would have complained then instead.

Deserved or not , they were issued . That should have been the end of it until the nonsense starts again two weeks before next season starts

Proctors case is totally different to Davies and Smith

Ty has over a 7 point average for meetings this season so far surely that should be enough.

It's his 6.68 rolling GSA that counts. The rules were already relaxed to give him a chance and, as SCB has pointed out, he's not done himself any favours to achieve the necessary. The correct alternative would have been not to have issued the temp visa in the first place.

Don't kid yourself. When the whole fiasco of visa's was raised last mid season by the UKVI with the BSPA, they handed them a dossier of riders riding second halves being tried out for the next season. All Frickes first rides were in the dossier. So how did they know about them.

Dave, I remember speaking to Booey at Porgys testemonial, how long ago was that. He said then when these new rules come out it would cause chaos, for non EU riders, how vright he was.

Did he have a temp visa?--more that his old one was still valid i think

Once again speedway fans pointing the finger at everyone except those who are to blame.

The reality is, Proctor did not qualify for a work permit. In an attempt to work with the sport he was given an opportunity to hit the required level.

Sheffield KNEW this when they chose to sign him. This isn't something that has come out of the blue. They also KNEW what was required for him to continue riding this season and as SCB has pointed out they were too dumb to ensure he did hit the required target.

The only people to blame are the Sheffield promotion/management.

Weirdly, I think Proctor has a better case than Davies and Smith. As I see it Davies and Smith have zero claim to a work permit having not met any criteria in the last 12 months. Where as Proctor did meet the criteria at the time based on his EL average last season.

Will Sheffield be allowed to use r/r tonight at least , or are the beaurocrats determined to kill off speedway for good ?

R/R for Proctor tonight and have been granted a 28 day facility.

Putting aside the fact the right or wrongs, and who is dumb and who is not.

What happens if a rider is given 60 days to prove themselves and goes out first race and gets injured and does not ride for the duration of the 60 days, would this mean the visa is revoked.

Fair enough , the know alls are right and rules are rules and all that nonsense . But it's morally wrong , are these riders doing a 6 point Brit out a job , of course they're not . So Sheffield , and probably us , will have to draft in some European who wouldn't be able to tie the likes of Proctors laces .

Between rain , the ineptitude of the Peterborough promotion and now more red tape nonsense , it's not been a good week so far .

Now this for me is the farce. Sheffield knowingly took the risk, it failed. They now get a facility for a rider who they could only ever offer a contract to until now, so why do they get a facility?

This is crazy!

I wonder how many Aussie/Kiwi stars would have suffered over the years with these daft rules in place. I speculate whether the likes of Ivan Mauger/David Barge/Mark Thorpe would ever have been able to thrill speedway crowds over here?

Newcastle (tongue in cheek) promote our Minister of Speedway, Nick Brown who is the elected representative for the ward where the speedway stadium is located. He is a regular attender at Brough Park and its just a pity no-one has brought this stupid situation (not just Proctor but the other guys as well) to his attention for some lobbying at Westminster. perhaps he might be able to have words in the right ears.

Hope Sheffield don't suffer because you have made a cracking start to the season and I hope Ty gets himself sorted out ok

Why ? They have been cruelly robbed of a rider's services . Only fit and proper that they can remain competitive until they can sign an EU dud to replace Procter .

They chose to sign him knowing if he didnt meet the criteria after 60 days he'd be booted out.

As for an EU dud, they'll just retain BRITISH rider Jason Garrity when David Bellego returns. Surely thats a good thing?

I have given up trying to understand the rules and reg,s there is no consistency in some off there decision making.
