bri1966
Why is Steve Worrall not in the squad? Is it because he never signed for Rossco s Swindon this year? He seems to be ridding better than Ritchie
TheCookster
Edward Kennett seems to be a strange exclusion on paper too. His EL average this season is well in excess of many included in this squad.
Ben91
Think Kennett has had plenty of chances in the World Cup and not delivered, added to the fact that he is pretty average at Kings Lynn anyway. Â Steve Worrall has been better than his brother over the last year so seeing Richie named is slightly strange. Â I'd assume that we will track Woffinden, Harris, Lambert and King at Lynn, and I'd be happy to keep that side for the race off/final should we progress. If only Scott Nicholls would come back into the Team GB fold we may have a team that could challenge on a good night.
foamfence
Good squad (to me) with two exceptions. Worrall has gone downhill over the last two seasons and King just doesn't have it at that level. Pity we couldn't have Schlein (who isn't in the Aussie squad either) and Nicholls (who seems to have seriously cut his ties somehow). It shows the weakness though, when the squad contains only two riders who are at the required level, having said that; Good luck to Rosco and the team. Bruiser McHuge
The squad is fine...obviously some have no chance of actually making the team but they are named as encouragement for their efforts and possibilities for the future. Although he wouldn't have ridden I would have named Steve Worrall instead of Richie...he's in excellent form in both leagues, plus why is Garrity omitted ?.....again it's not a big deal as he wouldn't have ridden but he's as good if not better than some named. I wouldn't name King in the actual team...he's probably in the best 5 currently but he's had plenty of chances...GB srent going to win this and King is not going to improve so it's time to look to the future, which is the reason I have no problems with Kennett being left out of the squad. I feel certain though that the final 5 will be Woffinden, Harris, Lambert, Cook and King
TheCookster
I have no major issue with Kennett being excluded from the squad, but I still find it surprising. Of the British riders, only Nicholls and Harris have higher EL averages than him and only Cook & King have higher PL averages. On that basis he would seem to merit including in the initial squad of 10, even if he doesn't ultimately make the team. Â I also agree with other posters that it is a shame about the Scott Nicholls situation (whatever the exact nature of it may be!). He is in the best form for some time at the moment and on merit SHOULD be part of the GB team.
smod
Actually both Worralls should be included. Â Rosco will be made to look a bit silly if his team slumps to defeat and then riders such as Garrity, Barker and Nicholls outpace his selections in the British Final.......
Bruiser McHuge
I think Rossiter's hands are tied over Nicholls....to me it's irrespective how Barker rides in the British Final as that's one meeting on a track a million miles away from the types of tracks British riders will need to master to be forces on the world stage , and Barker has had his chances and he's not good enough.....I'm sure Garrity will ride well at Wolves as well as he generally does but he's a different story and I'd liked to have seen him in the squad and maybe even the team as he is one for the future and riding Sheffield each week can only help him now..I can't understand that one.
SCB
The only possibly oddity is Worrall in ahead of Garrity. But it's pretty irrelevant as neither is going to be in the team.
Paulco
Has Rory Schlein been dropped then ?
Bruiser McHuge
Has Rory Schlein been dropped then ? Well the fact that Schlein was allowed to represent GB in the pairs showed that the BSPA or whoever didn't consider that to be a proper international event ..yet they still barred Nicholls from earning a living by banning him from riding in it..mixed messages there ! weatherwatcher
British speedway has been in a bad way for a number of years now, we have some good lads coming through the ranks at the moment, can't for on moment see why Garrity has not had the nod. Think Rosco has got the Worrals mixed up and picked the wrong one. These youngster need some track time against riders of their own age and against some of the worlds top riders if they are ever going to get anywhere.
Gavan
Â Poor ? ex World champion, current GP rider & arguably the best 17 yr old about, hardly not poor for me!!! Sorry but to me the squad is poor. Yes we have Tai and Bomber and a hot prospect in Lambert but the depths we have to go to now to get a squad is shocking compared to the Danes or the Poles. Â I remember the days of Loram Havelock Screen Louis Doncaster Smith Cross Tatum Wigg all in the same British Finals and pick any of those 4 and what a force in a team event. And before that, before my time, the likes of Lee Carter Morton Pc and the like. British Speedway was thriving. Â Now the Worrall brothers and Garrity are decent enough riders but discussing if they should be in a GB squad shows how far the standard of GB riders and has dropped and i dont mean that disrespectfully to those mentioned

sommelier
The 4 i would like is Woffy, Bomber, Lambert & Howarth. Tell you what, whether its the Poles, Danes or the Aussie, you won't get 4 better trier's!!!
mdmc82
The 4 i would like is Woffy, Bomber, Lambert & Howarth. Tell you what, whether its the Poles, Danes or the Aussie, you won't get 4 better trier's!!! I think Howarth would be one of the last riders I would pick for King's Lynn as struggles there. Â We have a squad of 10 but after Tai, Harris & Lambert, I would still struggle to pick a 4th rider strong enough. Possibly King
