Newcastle Diamonds V Edinburgh Monarchs Sun 17th May Pl

Recommended Posts

Kerr goes for 3rd and takes it during lap 3, Masters takes it back and blocks Kerr's line, Kerr spins and goes down. Race Stopped, Kerr is excluded. Lindgren giving Kerr a lift back to the pits. That is the wrong decision, as Masters was blocking Kerr's line and has no choice but to go down. Race Awarded.

thats was from the newcaste updates well of course Sam is going to to block his line otherwise he probably would have just passed him again what were they expecting him to do just let him pass.

Anyway another win in the bag only the 3 points this time but we'll take them. Good scoring from the top 4 and good to see Erik and the reserves scoring points as well. :t:

Good to see Mr Worrall on the gas as well if it wasn't for him the score could of been a lot worse.

masters did nothing wrong at all, tin hat on but lindgren needs to learn another line as he will never pass around the boards if the rider in front is also there....

Good meeting on a very good track tonight. Both teams gave 100% and there was plenty of good racing. Plus (for once) it all ran in good time. Much better.

It was always going to be tough for the Diamonds tonight without both Rosen and the normally solid scoring Neilsen. Edinburgh are once again very strong but if they have a slight vulnerability it's at reserve. However without Nielsen and with Rose, although giving everything, still not looking as quick as last year we weren't able to take advantage. The 1-5 in heat 2 was a major blow. Henry also had a dreadful night, looking down on power after his problems at Berwick. We couldn't afford that to happen tonight.

Lindgren gave it everything and was unlucky at times but perhaps he needs to use his head more as he gated well but seemed to create his own problems, going too wide at times on the first bend. Heat 13 was particularly disappointing as he and Lewis Kerr gated well ahead of the Monarchs top 2 but made a real mess of the first bend and somehow managed to turn a possible 5-1 into a 1-5 by the time they hit the back straight.

One rider who made no such errors was Steve Worrall who was absolutely magnificent tonight. Hard to believe this is the same rider who was struggling so badly for confidence and points around here only a couple of seasons ago. That has to go down as the best individual performance I've seem from a Diamond since the Larsen, Bach, Lemon days given the strength of the opposition.

Have to give credit to the Monarchs. They have this happy knack of building strong teams year on year despite the constraints of the points limit. Cook and Masters must be the strongest top 2 in the league with plenty of back-up from Wolbert and Sedgmen. Riss also looks promising. They will clearly take some stopping again.

Cook didn't miss the two minutes. He got to the tapes in time. The only possible contentious decision for me was when Masters gave Lindgren a nudge going into turn 1 but Ludde didn't come off until he lost it coming out of 2 so it was probably a fair decision.

How come the ref let cookie in the race after missing the two minutes?? All decisions were right were they! 😳🔫

imo yes

Ludde was steaming around the outside, masters moved over just as lindgren and worrall did when cook was on their back wheel, just racing i think....

ref got nothing wrong imo??

Reckon that Masters ran Lightning into the fence and could have been excluded, but guess it was a 50/50 call. Certainly less abuse hoyed at the refs box than is the norm when that particular gentleman is in residence.

Certainly thought there was a good case of Masters giving Ludde no where to go and being excluded for it. Master from past experience must the biggest winger in British Speedway, always moaning and even had a go at Steve when Steve did nothing wrong to keep him at bay in heat 5. Same guy then rides straight across Ludde's line and puts him in the fence. He wasn't moaning then.

Kerr's 'off' on the third bend curve was his own fault, he could't get though and spun.

i saw it that masters was in front and ludde was trying to go for a gap between him and the fence that wasnt there, maybe looked different from the stand or where ever, all around me couldnt understand why masters was getting stick tbh.

Diamonds are going to have to do something to turn their season around

Says he who can't cause enough bother on his own teams thread. :nono:

He was, but he changed his line to block Ludde who was at full pelt around Masters. What was Ludde to do, it he shut off or kept it on, he was still going to have to go into the fence to avoid a direct hit on Masters.

Masters was only getting stick as he rode him into the fence, there is enough injuries without flicking the back wheel. What would of happened if lingren had roared upside masters on inside line&put him on the dog track leaving masters with no where to go.
