penchev
Nothing wrong with bringing newbies well done. My priority would be to bring back the old faces that have deserted Berwick, that means listening to their complaints and acting on it The club also has to help itself, e.g. printed loads of posters for forthcoming meetings, available from the track shop, what use is that if you run a pub or cafe and dont go to speedway. Commercial managers job to arrange distribution, even if it is fans that do it for them. Do you have a poster in your shop? I am also led to believe that you are not allowed to put posters in supermarkets ie Asda, which is lets be honest most people go to?
dantodan
While it is admirable that you are bringing new faces,it seems to me that British Speedway is beyond repair to a great number of fans, nobody can come up with any real solution.Lets face it the diehard support are in the older age group nowadays and the sport has been unable to attract a new younger fan base for whatever reasons.Sad but true IMO .Not only Berwick are being affected. Well yes but if we all give up because we think the sport is dying it will die. Ask yourself have you any skills that could help your promoters and if you think you can help go and knock on the doors like I did. in 2004 the Diamonds did not have a supporters club. We the Diamonds Geezers filled the gap. Amongst other things we set up a display stall with a bike or two and took it all over the northeast, we handed out leaflets some of which were free admission tickets and it seemed to help. The DGs also bought and converted a couple of advertising trailers (with Darryls help) which we put next to busy roads close to Newcastle. We got on a few radio programmes publicising the Diamonds. When Newcastle restarted their supporters club I decided raising funds for the Diamond Geezers alongside the supporters club who also needed to raise funds was going to be impossible, I took ill at this time so I decided to fold the Diamond Geezers as no-one else wanted to run it. I still think the Diamond Geezer idea was a good one and perhaps the idea could be taken on by some other hard working individuals at Berwick and possibly Newcastle should the need arise Edited May 13, 2015 by dantodan

Simple answer is yes, Rocky produced a run of posters before the club, those are the ones I put out in my shop and shops around me

Either that or just accept that we will need to find something else to do with our time.
StevePark
I agree, fans need to be proactive. Either that or just accept that we will need to find something else to do with our time. In some respects (and I'm not being funny here) it shouldn't be the fans 'job'. Either that, or the title of 'promoter' should be changed. There are too many 'promoters' with their heads in the sand (to paraphrase Nigel Pearson!) as to the problems facing the sport. The last few AGM's have shown that. ** Perhaps a new thread should be started, as this has little to do with the meeting coming up on Saturday!

bigeddiechek
I think we've had a lot of bad luck at the start of this season, but full strength, let's see what we can do. Barker and Vissing are going to be pretty hard to beat I reckon.

Losing Voldrih just when he was starting to show promise, using RR when one reserve is struggling always puts added strain on the side. Season starts this weekend when we are hopefully at full strength
Goodiepatchie
Most things are quite easy to predict: 1) Boring follow-the-leader 'racing' with little/no overtaking 2) Having to listen to that idiot with a mic on the centre green, making jokes that only he finds funny, 3) (Hopefully no serious injuries and) have to wait for a County Ambulance because there is only 1 Paramedic or Doctor on duty 4) Despite all of the above (and possible home win) I'll still be there!!! number 2 is easy sorted but the powers at be don't seem to want to act on it

Season starts this weekend when we are hopefully at full strength I agree, very unlucky start to the season. Full strength on Saturday should get things going! Amazing that the poster who is now wanting new faces was the same person who was all for "hoying out" certain fans, and those who choose to vote with their feet were "attention seeking", like I say amazing. I have never said people voting with their feet are attention seekers: so, stop trying to seek attention! I did, however, point out that some people I know who do not come any more were absolutely turned off by having the same moan in their ear every Saturday. You can't surely think that is a good thing? DSC67
If I was fed up with somebody moaning in my ear all the time I'd move to somewhere else in the stadium , or alternatively turn and ask the person responsible to either desist or put a sock in it
ruffdiamond
This should be our biggest league win of the season. are you not expecting many league wins, like ??? If I was fed up with somebody moaning in my ear all the time I'd move to somewhere else in the stadium , or alternatively turn and ask the person responsible to either desist or put a sock in it same here, but probably not as diplomatically as that, lol ;-)

UP URANUS
Where I sit nobody moans, although some of them are accused on here as moaners, they do air their views, and and in nearly all cases have good grounds for criticism. In every case they would like better speedway, but take the rough with the smooth. If it were not for the kids, I doubt that I would be that loyal.
