Glasgow V Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Very enjoyable viewing tonight, with some pretty good racing considering the weather. The place looked great on TV and it's hard to believe it's the same track I visited at the tail end of last season. The big crowd, great camera work and enthusiastic commentators (much maligned - unfairly in my opinion) made it exciting viewing.

Perhaps it's because we don't see them very often, but Premier meetings always seem much better on TV than Elite ones.

Anyway congratulations to all at Glasgow Speedway on all the improvements and putting on a great show tonight.

Average meeting but a lot better than what normally gets served up on Sky

Josh G pass in heat 11 was differnt class leg back and ride the fence fantastic stuff. Berge was entertaining as always round Ashfield great to watch.

Shocker from the ref to exclude bates the pole should of went is it was his fault, Bates was slighty ahead as they went to turn the Pole should of shut off as he was never getting across him into the corner the minute he decided he wasn't going to it was always going to end up in a crash.

Nice to see some things don't change though Kozza still out of control, Sarjeant still loves a running start and Bates is still a plonker without a brain.

P.S your still the wee team in scotland though ;)

Good meeting on Sky tonight and it looked as though it was well promoted. I just hope at the end of the season if the Elite league needs further propping up they will not put pressure on Glasgow stepping up and allow the new promotion to make that decision when they feel it is ready.

Never "the pole's" fault in a million years! Level pegging going into the corner! Bates lost it! The aftermath was almost as good as the Mayweather fight the other week!

Fandabididozi.

what on earth are mr potato head and that other bloke talking about glasgow going elite. pearson trying to build up the e.l. and tatunhead saying the elite is the best league if you wnt to ply tour trade. sheessh/

Does Jenga speak English or Dyslexic?

I enjoyed that and loved the improvements that have been made at the club. Just hope Glasgow Speedway can keep a hold of all them fans.

Looking forward to going to Glasgow this year.

You're more than welcome Dave.

you are that biased against Glasgow you can't see a simple decision! Bates was the cause of the stoppage quite clearly yet you seem to be the only person on here who blames Konopka!

Sky dump Elite League & go with Premiere League.

I wouldn't say dump the EL exactly, but seeing the same old clubs and tracks over and over again does get a bit tiresome.

There are some terrific racing tracks in the PL that everyone is aware of, but there are plenty of others I'd like to see get a showing too.

There should definitely be more variety on Sky and more PL alongside the EL would be most welcome.

Thoroughly enjoyed an entertaining meeting. Well impressed with the 'banked ' track that produced some fast and decent racing. Some quality passes from the many racing lines. Was that a fair representation of the normal crowd ? , or was that just because the camera were there, either way, good crowd added to the occasion.

Thought Glasgow looked strong and will surely figure in the chase for honours, Whereas Sheffield looked stretched after all their problems, and will surely slip down from their lofty league position.

Good meeting that should be remembered for the quality served up and not for that idiot, Bates's behaviour. made himself look a prize tool.

If he behaves like that, one has to question why did Wolves pick, to have him in their side. He may be able to ride a bike, but with that attitude, he's going no-where.

Sky should dump EL. British speedway should dump EL. Two divisions - running one at PL level or very slightly higher, one at PL level or very slightly lower. Promotion and relegation, no guests

Then you have the beginnings of a marketable product

Really enjoyed that meeting. Probably more than all GP, Pairs and EL shown so far this season combined.

Hope any talk of EL is just commentator ramblings - a few teams have had their heads turned by "ambition" and lived to regret a move to a higher level. That's NL to PL as well as PL to EL.

Please Sky can we have more PL and maybe take a dip into the NL every now and again too. :)

Enjoyed that. Was all that speedway should be and sadly isn't anymore.

Tidy stadium

Good racetrack

Well promoted with big crowd

Riders who got on with it without moaning

A few crashes

A bit of handbags

Some decent races

Can't remember the last meeting EL or Sky meeting I could say that about. Well done to the promoters and all involved let's hope their attitude is infectious amongst the bloody silly pratts association.

Always remember Ashfield as being one of the PLs best race tracks when i first started following Newport. Didnt attend until 2003/4ish but used to have the videos of the wasps scottish tours and the racing was superb.

Seen a few heats of lastnight and the track looks good - i remember the stadium as being a right dump but looks completely different now and a good crowd too

Feel big time for Peter Mole at sheffield - a good looking team just falling apart in front of him. Stead oit, in form bellego out and now this with proctor

Bridger for stead and bellego for proctor still leaves them looking a good side - comptons rolling back the years which is great to see .

That is the thing for me with showing more PL, variety of tracks and riders.

Certainly was an interesting meeting, awful lot of mistakes and falls, the banking catching riders out. Well done to the new Glasgow promoters!

This was the first meeting seen on sky this year and as I have said before lets see more PL meetings rather than seeing the same teams in the EL. This was a brilliant meeting to watch with plenty of close racing and action.

well, what an enjoyable evening. I am so glad I may the effort to get up to Ashfield.

As soon as you enter through the new entrance lobby you are struck by how professional it all seems.

Really encouraging to be on a packed terrace close to the action and a good atmosphere.

Recommend you al try and get there this season.
